Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.

Recommended Posts

Seems that someone from Sky is actually reading our posts. They have shown heat 15 lineups in Berwick - Newcastle meeting on the tv graphics before they started interviews with managers. Great job. The most important info first then some talking.

Agreed - much better. :approve: :approve:

poeople are saying that Nigel Pearson knows the feedback yet refuses to moderate his style.....what feedback is this then ?...a few posters on a forum is hardly feedback and forums tend to generally be more negative than positive anyway because people are always more likely to post if they have a gripe...plus the majority of fans don't read or post at all on forums so feedback via forums is largely pointless.

Sky will know the real feedback and what they want from commentators and if they felt that it was largely negative and Pearson was not delivering what they wanted then he certainly would not have lasted this long

Perhaps, but where does this "real" feedback come from?

Probably hand written or e-mail comunications direct to SKY plus, of course they will have their own Surveys as well.

TV stations spend fortunes on "real" feedback...they are totally aware of viewers views, ages, likes etc...it is a massive deal so they can promote their advertising to the relevant firms and also the costs of the slot etc....if Pearson was not performing to their liking then they would know the feedback 100% and he would have been replaced long ago

Django- You are perfectly right the Berwick match due to its location was an expensive match to broadcast especially as nearly all crew based around London or South. Sam Was also not available as was on the way back from Hungary supporting US in WTC qualifier.

It was also felt there was no obvious choices for Northern based guests.

For the love of God - it's a multi BILLION pound organisation & you're banging on about it being "an expensive broadcast".

Maybe if Sky need a few quid for diesel, not putting together the most expensive team in cycling or perhaps have avoided buying a racehorse amongst many other vanity projects.

Obviously as an ex- Berwick number one, Tatum wouldn't have contemplated lowering his standards to cover Premier League, but as far as "no obvious northern choices" I'm sure there could have been a whip round to buy Gary Havelock a ticket on the Megabus.

I met Nigel Pearson after last tuesday meeting at Berwick, first of all you couldnt wish to me a nicer person, and secondly its obvious he is a true speedway nut.So to those who critisize I suggest we start looking at Pearson as an asset to speedway coverage on Sky.Its quite obvious that Sky & EuroSport think hes doing a decent enough job,so those who damn the man they are either in the minority or wrong or more than likely both.

Can we send Sam to Hungary every week please ;-)

  • 1 month later...

Interesting schedule published by Sky for July.

July 3rd Birmingham Swindon

July 29th Eastbourne Birmingham

I know we have the World Cup July 13th - 20th, but presumably other meetings scheduled are yet to be decided.

I hope they will show another PL meeting, and there are a few top of the EL table meetings to choose from. .

Not sure much feedback is being done.It doesn't take much feedback to realise the incoherent ramblings of the guy doing the voiceovers on Eurosport are being ridiculed by er everyone, its embarrassing. Also Charlie on Sky,although she is intelligent and a pretty face, when it comes to live TV with no autocue she is nothing more than wooden, think its her 3rd year and she hasn't improved, there are alternatives but I don't think Sky are that bothered.

One can only speculate how Charlie ever got the job in the first place ;)

Was good to see the hovercam or whatever its called at Perry Barr last night, looks a bit wierd but you get some great shots of the action. Would love to control the thing( presume its remote controlled), would be like having one of them remote controlled helicopters but on a larger scale. Boys toy!! :D
