Guest Rod King
What is also interesting is that he is using a 498cc Jawa. I suspect it's not a speedway engine!

Grachan
Arthur was the stuntman in a Milk Tray advert many years ago - riding a trial bike over rough terrain to bring said chocolates to a posh bird. Wasn't him one the helmet came off though. Didn't he injure himself doing it?
KevH
Didn't he injure himself doing it? Yes, I believe he did - if memory serves me right, he broke his leg, but not sure on that one.

Malcolm
What is also interesting is that he is using a 498cc Jawa. I suspect it's not a speedway engine! Yes it is a Jawa, a 2 valver. The biggest problem Arthur has had so far is with the oil pump and finding suitable pistons. Down the road from me in California a now Harley dealer won two road race championships on a 2 valve Jawa racebike.
sliderphil
70's Brummie supporters will be happy to know that motor cycling legend and ex skipper Arthur Browning is still hard at it Hmm, I remember Big Arthur. I used to race British Championship enduros at the same time as him in the mid eighties. Quite a character at the pub afterwards I seem to remember! www.sliderphil.netfirms.com
brum_57
I asked Big Arth to sign my programme after a meeting, he was only a second halfer at the time and wore the most disgustingly coloured leathers you could imagine, as he signed, the pen hit one of the staples, "trust me to find a bump" said Big Arth. BRING BACK THE BRUMMIES.

Deano
Scraping the bowels of my brain here, but didn't Arthur knock off the "Great Ole Olsen" at Perry Barr once. Didn't go down very well with the Cov. fans in the "Big" (as it was in those days) Birmingham - Coventry derby. Arthur had to start 10 yards back in the re-run. You Scrapped the bowels of my memory.... all the way over here in AUS! LoL! At Liverpool speedway, I was handicapped 30m, on my left was Nigel Boocock, and very close indeed on my right, Ole Olsen. Due to the amount of camber, when I dropped my clutch at the start and the back wheel dug itself in, my footrest had dug itself into the track, the bike turned right and me & Ole ended up on the floor in a heap. I was so red faced and embarrassed, Nigel in the mean time had done a U turn and rode back up and said "Nice one our kid, can you do it in the re-run". What a way to get initiated into the big time of speedway. Big Arthur not only brought me a beer for that Story. If my memory serves me right, I fought my way through 1 1/2 pints that night I could never keep up with him on the track or off it! I did one night at Castleford. ....... I think it was too small for him.
