Been waiting months for first sniff of speedway and enjoyed what I did see once the track had been sorted.

Mellgren had a typical slow start, Nelson looked like he had never been away and Garrity was as brave as ever. However the delays put a dampner on the day.

I left during the heat 12 stoppage thinking another Ambulance change-over delay but got home to see that racing continued.... how did they manage that ? They said Lambert had a fractured ankle so naturally thought another hospital trip. Oh well.

Kasper looked understandably rusty.

If Lambert does have a busted ankle, whats the thoughts on a replacement ? Use up the spare points ? Hopefully Jason will bounce back. I like the potential of this Rye side and its a shame injuries have hit so soon.

Got a wedding Saturday so gonna miss Somerset visit.

Cant believe some are wanting riders axed already, hopefully the injuries to Makinen & Bunyan wont be to bad.

Does seem to have been a bit of a shambles though.

Jari Makinen confirmed dislocated shoulder & elbow... Jason Bunyan had a back injury and was complaining of breathing difficulties, suspected broken ribs... Simon Lambert has a suspected broken ankle... Speedy recovery to all three.

Unfortunate for Lambert but if Silver can get a genuine seven point rider in and get Garrity down to reserve then it changes the whole complexion of the side. It goes from a lower end of the table side to one which should challenge the top four.

Same here... Can't work that out unless Lambert was taken to hospital by private transport, or waited until after heat 15

But we all know that ain't gonna happen.

Speedy recovery to all the lads.

Not sure how long Lambert will be out for, 6-8 weeks with a broken ankle, depending on the severity. What happens next will determine our season.

Absolute tripe. Having seen both legs of this fixture which has an overall aggregate win for Rye a team that has massive potential. If we are bottom four (which is normal comment from this doom and gloom merchant) where does that leave the Ipswich

As for the track look around at the postponements already, not due to the rain but frost the track after work stood up well and had decent racing. Three and a half hours is a disgrace but my concerns would be for the three injured riders rather than how cold the loves were before they toddled off home.

Should've stood next to you. All that hot air would've kept us all warm

We stayed to the end and it appeared that a "County" Ambulance was summoned for Simon. While the delays are frustrating it must be difficult to balance the cost of having enough Medical Teams on standby to allow the meeting continue after Riders have to be moved to Hospital against the gate receipts for the meeting. How unlucky were the team to have two riders sustaining what appear to be serious injuries in the first home meeting. Personally I think they did well to get the meeting on at all given the crap weather we have been having and wish all the injured riders from both teams a speedy recovery.

Firstly and most importantly I hope Jason, Jari and Simon make speedy recoveries.

As others have said it was a disgrace that it took so long to run and like many I left after the heat 12 accident fearing another delay of an hour or more. Given the difficulty many riders were having I think it should have been abandoned at that point anyway.

I suspect most die-hards like me will be back for more but I do not believe many new fans will have been won over today!

Well I made a rare visit to Rye house and can't believe how long it took to run the meeting and I know delays with medical care can not be avoided but there did not seem to be any urgency in running the meeting or getting racing started again.

Best wishes to all the injured riders but have to say Lambert crash was his own fault as he tried to lean on Tungate but he was too small and light so they both ended up in the fence.

I felt bit sorry for Makinen as crash not his own fault but to be honest was not even on the pace and was last out of the gate. Last year at Leicester his strong point was his gating but wasn't happening today and fear for his team place as not scored a point yet and the Ipswich fans around me already saying they want rid.
