Somerset Vs Plymouth 29/03/13

Good opening meeting against a tough looking devils side. No practice last weekend means this will be the first the riders take to the track this season.

All of the plymouth riders have ridden the track more than once so will know the track. This will be a tough meeting for both sides but will be a good warm up.

Rebels: doyle, davies, grajczonek, newman, morris, perry and nielsen

Devils: proctor, schramm, lemon, gathercole, kling, kurtz, reade

For me, this Rebels side has the potential to be league Champs, providing they stear clear of injury, every Rebel has the potential to improve, and down at reserve they have to talented young english riders, with vastly different styles In Tom Pom you have a Chris Harris type rider, he cant gate, but he sure gives it everything to get past, and in Stefan Nielsen you have a rider with a smooth style, who once in front takes some catching, he also aint afraid to mix it, Im sure you Rebels will enjoy watching him this year, once again your management have picked a plum from the NL.

A very entertaining looking opening fixture for both teams, with ex Rebels Gathercole and Lemon in the mix.I expect it to be tight with the Rebels winning maybe by a couple.with Doyle being the deciding factor. The Devils 3/4 partnership of Cory and Lemo looks quite strong, but this is equaled by the exceptional pair of Doyle and Davies. If Alex has his gating boots on , he`ll be on for big points. Can`t see Kling doing much so it will be down to Proctor to keep it tight..Josh and Nick both have good experience of the OTA, so all in all a good match in prospect with no injuries please.

That's just it, I like the Rebels team a lot in that they have massive potential but if the young lads at reserve don't do the business they could struggle badly at the bottom end. Cracking heat leader trio mind you and no matter what, I think they'll be playoff bound at worst but could come unstuck against all round strength.

Either way I'm getting the thermals out an hoping the rain stays away for what should be a cracking double header to start the season. Oh and I don't think we'll be bottom this year either :D

Access in and out of the Arena has just been upgraded and is all down to beyond the pay booth. Then it is on round the back of bend 1 & 2 on your left to see a Burger Van. Just infront of the Burger Van is a seperate area for disabled with yellow barrier round it. I myself am just outside this on my buggy as all the crowd we are with would fill the disabled bay on its own.I believe the new stand on the back straight is now open for use and will be a great view point if you wish to be seated. Now the difficult part of parking. We used to park on the road outside but last week in their wisdom they painted double yellow lines there so there is going to be sum annoyed punters on Saturday night. Best I can do is point you in this direction.:--http://www.plymouthd...to-find-us.html and you can take a look at the photos of the parking areas at the Arena....Hope some of this helps and you have an enjoyable visit.

Good meeting but rebels deserved the win in the end. The result was about right for imo an impressive rebels side.

For the rebels Doyle, Newman, Davies and Morris were brilliant. Grajczonek showed what he has to offer in his last ride. While the reserves looked a little down on power but can do better.

For plymouth Lemon was the best rider for them, Schramm and Kurtz also did well. Kling started well but went of the boil as the meeting progressed. Proctor, Gathercole and Reade can all do better especialy the two formers.

Got that a bit wrong,I expected it to be a lot closer than that.Good to see Alex and Kyle starting so well against good opposition who know the OTA track well.I make that nine starts for Doyley against Prem opposition so far and no defeats, if he can stay fit he will be right up the top of the averages again this term. I wasn`t sure how he would come back after his nasty injury last year, but it seems like it`s the same old Doyley.I was a bit surprised Tom didn`t do better but Rebelwonderkid reckons he may have been down on power,so maybe a machinery problem to be sorted out before tonight.Well done to Nick for an excellent first return in the Rebels colours, and a steady one for Josh and Stefan(hope he`s ok after his spill).

Good luck to the lads tonight in the return, stay safe, and hopefully another victory.
