moomin man 76
Its good to see the participation of the Estonians in the Kaupunkki Cup this year. Success should not be measured solely on points scored. Exposure to riders of a higher stature will no doubt help develop the Estonians, to the point where hopefully they can enter a team into the SM-Liiga in the years to come and individuals into the World Championship/European Championship qualifiers. He looks a good prospect, there's is a lot similar to Kalle Katajisto in his style and hopefully I will see him this thursday on an "easier" track to ride in Pori. Yyterispeedway is on thursday and I'm looking forward to see Ahlbom, Lunna and Partanen in the same heat. For other riders there was not much to comment, I've seen them (the Finnish guys) before so knew what to expect. Also I spoke quite a lot with Jaak Soolep, he has done a lot of work at the track and was very positive and happy about how the whole weekend turned out in the end. f-s-p
Thought there would be a longer report on your visit to one of the speedway outposts!!! What is the scene like? The track? What sort of youth development have they got going on there? Many riders? What classes do they have?80cc or 125cc? A bit busy at the moment, had a couple of phone calls today that made me very happy and very busy for a few days. They have 10-15 riders, at least one 80cc kid. Ranna also has a decent 80cc track, the big one was of interesting shape with long narrow straights (Gislaved was mentioned, the longest in Sweden) and tight bends (kuusankoski mentioned, tightest in Finland). Soolep said earlier that within a couple of years there might be a new track opening in the south of Estonia. The stadium itself was pretty good, I have to admit. Finnish coach Palomäki was there for the camp giving feedback for all the riders (around 15 Finns and ten or so Estonians) and progress was made...

iris123
Niklas Säyriö rides for Skaerbak. So now you know which teams to follow and report to me. Well the two nearest teams to me then.Just a matter of finding the time. But i like both tracks.Proper 80cc tracks with a fence rather than just in the middle of the 500cc.Just my preference of course. They all do the job of letting the kids learn
f-s-p
Yyterispeedway << today >>>, NIke Lunna beat Teemu Lahti and Marko Suojanen for the win. Unfortunately Henri Ahlbom had a tumble on his own, hit the fence and hurt his back. Nothing serious, just shaken... EDIT: I also spoke with Aki-Pekka Mustonen. He had a visit to the doctors this week in Finland and goes again on May 23rd. After xrays then decisions are made how long his layoff will continue. I know that he's given away his quali slot in the WC qualis, cant remember where though. Two minor fractures in vertabraes, one in the neck and one in the back. Didn't blame anyone, it was just a bad day for grasstrack with all the incidents that occurred. WHY CANT I CHANGE LINE WITH THE RETURN KEY ANYMORE!! Just came on to post to see if you had any information about this rider as i saw on Sportowefakte he had a great win yesterday too. I see you had already mentioned him in his previous meeting. How highly do you rate his prospects after his latest meeting? Is he likely to seek out further opportunities around Europe? Does Finland have any more potential top riders waiting to come out? From his Facebook page he looks quite a character, 16 years old with very long blond dreadlocks!

My biggest fear with him is that within a week he's declared missing and the next thing anyone hears of him is that he's scoring double figures for Torun a year from now. You should read your Spar more precisely, I said my piece in the preview issue. LOL EDIT: I've said this to a UK promoter once and saying it again now. If you want a 16 year old kid to come over, YOU BETTER SORT EVERYTHING OUT. Just getting him over, paying flights and getting a mechanic for meetings does not mean a kid will enjoy his stay and improve as a rider. f-s-p
Lol re Torun. Ah! ok just read the preview, the season hadn't started yet you know lol. I've asked around and his background/-people is ok if not good. If he wants speedway, it's his to take. I've spoken to him many time's, "mellow" might sound a bit bad even to my ears, but he just does his business and he's frightenetly (that was misspelled) good for his age!
