Mercia Vikings add Jordan Tyrer to squad.

The Coventry Mercia Vikings , sponsored by City Gearboxes (COVENTRY) Ltd, have added a seventh rider to their 2013 Midland Development League squad.

Having already named Martin Knuckey, Tyler Govier, Nick Mallett, Andrew Braithwaite, Cam Hoskins and Ellis Perks for the new season they have brought Sheffield loanee Jordan Tyrer in following the news that the Tiger Cubs would now not be taking part in the 2013 league.

Management duo Kelvin Lapworth & Laurence Rogers see the "signing" of Jordan as a massive coup for the side and will boost their bid for the MDL championship. Following on the unfortunate withdrawal of Sheffield from the MDL, Viking bosses moved quick to secure the services of Tyrer who was due to be the Tiger Cubs No.1. The move will also see Laurence Rogers linking up again with the Tyrer family as he is good friends with Jordan's father -former Belle Vue rider Paul and also gave Jordan his first ever competitive ride as a 16 year old for Clwb Caerfyrddin at Buxton. The Vikings would like to thank the Sheffield promotion for their co-operation and look forward to helping develop a very talented rider.

It is not the end of the signings for the squad with another young rider very much on their radar and talks are continuing with the youngster and his father to bring him to the Vikings.

Co-manager Kelvin Lapworth sees the squad as essential, “ with two riders already holding down National League spots in Martin Knuckey and Tyler Govier plus work and college commitments along with Ellis Perks not arriving until the summer we need cover in all directions. Laurence and I believe we have a strong squad and one capable of mounting a challenge for honours this year.!
