Kester
He's admitted smoking dope but the police didn't charge him with possesion. FFS how many members on this forum have smoked a joint, even the president of the USA admitted it (but he didn't inhale lol). Let the person who hath not sinned cast the first stone. How many of them have also done a runner on a bike (illegally). Or been involved in punch ups on the street. Or been charged with sexual offences. Oh, not many of us actually. It all adds up to a picture of someone who isn't really living his life in the right way don't you think? Or maybe you think to act in any of these ways is absolutely fine, each to his own I suppose. If Matt Ford is prepared to make the statement he has, and let's face it he knows the lad an awful lot better than you or me, then something is clearly up. I've never taken any illegal drugs, ever. but as I said yesterday on this forum, I'm not too bothered about anyone smoking a bit of weed, it's the combination of what he did I have an issue with. And that's the whole point, none of us are on about just the drug aspect. That's what makes this serious.

Once again, this particular thread is not about Wards guilt or anyone else's. There are other threads dealing with that. It is about the Poole managements response to a local newspapers request for comment. The general opinion seems to be that Ford handled it the way it should be handled and Middlo made a complete dogs breakfast of the whole thing and made an embarrassing situation worse. Do you wish to express an opinion on the subject matter of the thread ? Your comments so far have only been pertinent to the two other threads on the subject. pugwash
El Ad. Comments on this forum do sometimes drift off thread, are you setting up as some kind of forum traffic warden? Please try reading the full thread before judging the pertinence of my comments. On this particular thread Ward has been accused of being a 'convicted drug user', my posts have been in the context of defending him. I'll try to 'keep off the double yellow lines' in future officer. Comments do indeed drift off topic but as you have indulged in your opinions on the off-topic matter of Wards guilt or otherwise, I am just pointing out that you have not favoured us with your considered opinion of the subject the thread is actually about. Perhaps you don't one, but it is strange that we seem to have diametrically opposed public comments from the promoter and team manager and as a Poole supporter your input would have been interesting, especially in the conspicuous absence of the forum member that proclaims himself to be "Porn Baron and No1 Poole Fan" ( and who seems strangely quiet at the moment) I can't remember the last time Poole fans were so backward in coming forward. Goodness knows what happened there. It was supposed to be a reply to Pugwash but all I can see on may screen is a blank space. Maybe Ford's Black Magic is affecting the postings on the internet Edited February 22, 2013 by E I Addio

stevebrum
He hasn't been convicted of any drugs offence. Just admitted smoking drugs. He's admitted smoking dope but the police didn't charge him with possesion. FFS how many members on this forum have smoked a joint, even the president of the USA admitted it (but he didn't inhale lol). Let the person who hath not sinned cast the first stone. It is clear from several posts on this subject those who are pro use of recreational use (for an illegal substance), but thankfully in the minority. I am sure there are many who still see Darcy as a perfect role model, which is sad. We are talking about a professional sportsperson taking drugs (one off, supposedly!) in his own time. Maybe if he had injured someone whilst doing a runner (or worse) it would still be condoned because, lets face it, people get knocked over by vehicles all the time. Just when you think the vast majority of speedway folk are decent , well thought out individuals .... well, you live and learn! He wasn't convicted but admits smoking weed and driving away drunk as well. So all is fine i guess. I would imagine the retort will be that i'm a Poole hater or knocker i guess. SteveLyric2
Having been criticised for attempting to clarify the Aussie court ruling as 'defending DW' , may I say that I do not condone his actions one bit. He has to grow up and take heed of all the good advice that he's had and will continue to get. However if we are to chastise and ban every speedway rider that takes a 'puff on a joint' (which is all he's admitted) in his own time, then there would probably not be enough riders around to form a speedway league anywhere!! Drug and alcohol testing before and after meetings have been carried out in recent seasons and I'm sure will continue. I don't recall anyone testing positive.
