I missed the GP (mainly because i forgot), does anyone know if it will be repeated or in the Eurosport on demand? I cant see anythign listed. If Tai does go on to win more, I suspect Sky will be kicking themselves at letting the GPs go from a British point of view.

Highlights on Eurosport 2 today at 21.30, not that there were many highlights. It was one of the worst GP's, mostly follow the leader stuff, culminating with a huge anti-climatic final. Unfortunately the World Cup final is at the same venue.

Thank you, missed that when skimming the TV Guide. I will look forward to the final race, if nothing else :)

Rather like many World Finals then wasn't it :)

Bonus is, we don't have to wait 1 year for the next one.

I must congratulate Eurosport on Tai Woffinden's achievements. It just goes to show when a tv station presents the show correctly, as Eurosport do, then British riders can succeed.

Having attended 3 one off world finals I feel people that slag off GPs for not having great racing are talking rubbish IMO. I attended in 1980 in gothenburg when michael lee won now that was an awful meeting ,penhall at wembley had 2 great races and gundersen at bradford again had a couple of good races. Of course its all about personal choice I prefer the GPs roll on cardiff and torun.

I haven't seen much of the GPs lately, but I've watched bits on Youtube. The race between Penhall and Olsen in 1981 has gone down as a classic. In terms of racing, the Pedersen v Woffinden semi-final was just as good. That may well be remembered as a good race, but not in the same way as Penhall v Olsen is.

Why? I guess the significnce of the 1981 race was so much greater with everything going down to what happened on the night and someone walking away as World Champion. In both cases the winner of that particular race ended up winning the meeting, but the difference is that Penhall winning that race helped him come away at the end of the night being crowned world champ.

I think, in general, the standard of racing in the Grands Prix is much higher than it ever was in world finals, but becaues the whole thing is spaced out over a season the indovidual meetings themselves are not as memorable, even if the standard of the racing itself is higher.

So, in conclusion, which is better? individual or Grand Prix? I'm going for... neither!! It's down to individual preference.

(Edit - nothing to do with Eurosport. Sorry. Just realised I'm completely off topic. It was much better in the 1970s. Nobody went off topic then.)

Best bit of 'SITTING ON THE FENCE' I have ever seen Grachan. :t::)

I like your argument too - all down to personal taste. :)

............................. as long as everyone goes along with MY personal taste.:blink:

Some people allow gripes to become obsessions then spend their time trying to justify their dislike by forcing it on others. Naturally the sheep-like mentality of some sees them join in. Everyone has a right to their dislikes but to just keep on ramming their view down everybody else's throats is rather unhealthy. We've just had some wonderful Grands Prix and yet this same depressing sad bunch can only whinge about commentary.

IMO Pearson and Tatum have calmed their commentry down a bit from their Sky broadcasts, they are not at irritating as I have found them in the past. Don't know if thats just me though?

Relax Sidney, I agreed with your point it wasn't a great GP (racing wise) and simply stated that unlike the old one off system, we haven't got long to wait for another one.

You really do need to calm down, no good for your blood pressure :)

They normally don't annoy me much but on Saturday the sound mix was really poor, you couldn't hardly hear any bikes and the interviews were really quite too which meant concentrating on those two more... they then started to annoy me!

The latest GP was a rare bad one, on the whole its a great watch. The biggest problem on Saturday apart from the lack of passing was complete lack of sound from the bikes and the crowd. It sounded like two men shouting and screaming in a box with someone mowing the grass outside.

Can you imagine if Tai takes the crown, and how much Pearson will be screaming like the demented fool louder than most other days? That's if he actually realises of course, he missed the moment Hancock had enough points to be Champion a couple of seasons back if memory serves. And some claim he is a brilliant commentator.. I beg to differ.

Good idea to have Mr and Mrs Nichols on hand for Cardiff, will be interesting to see how they do.

So, what's that then - 20 or 25, maybe more years since the rule was brought in?

Pretty good rule if the average is 4 or less "screw ups" a century.

How much better would the semifinal have been if it had been over 6 laps, or maybe 8?

Stupid 4 laps rule.
