Who Do You Think Will Be World Champion In 2013? And Who Else Will Do Well.

Those people with money to waste, ought to place their bets on Darcy. This is a two horse race with only Nicky, able to stop Noddy winning again. Sure there will be other riders who figure, but when the chips are down, when the pressure is paramount there will only be two riders.... Take your pick........

I believe Holder will retain his title! It hasn't happened much in recent years, is Penhall the only1 to retain his title recently? and he was very lucky indeed very lucky.Holder is my favourite because I think he will take a lot of beating , still young learning all the time has the experience and mentally he is very tough.Forgot about Rickardsson can't remember if he retained the title? saying that Rickardsson is Just in my top 6 of all time laughable for a 6 times world champ. I think Nicki will do it.

Others since Penhall won consecutive Championships, are I think:

Gundersen 84 & 85

Nielsen 86 & 87

Rickardsson 98 & 99

Rickardsson 01 & 02

Pedersen 07 & 08

God out of touch Tim, couldn't be bothered to google or get me records out only Gunder and Hans! both great riders before the GP venture.

Penhall retain it recently? That was 30 years ago for god sake!

Pedersen done it in 07/08 and pretty sure Rickardsson has done it , maybe twice

No i didnt see him so what that just proves even more that it wasny recent and one off final or not Pedersen has retained his world title and so did rickardsson i think in 2001 and 2002

Wrong was i? sorry my fault but what i meant defending champions before the GP series no matter PInstripe you are correct. Is it harder to defend a one off final or a GP series? both need different qualities to do it!

Why would Penhalls defence of a one off world final have anything to do with holder defending a title in a gp series, if you meant they were totally different?!

So yes you were wrong and your knowledge of yhe sgp series must be poor if you cant remember pedersens back to back world titles or rickardssons

Your making yourself look more of a fool by trying to talk yourself out of that post

I understand what you mean Sidney. The two forms of World championships are worlds apart. Totally different in all but one aspect, in that, the winner is the World Champion. I believe the formulation of the grand prix series allow riders to have the off night and still retain the chance of being the World champion. whereas in the past a bad night in the qualifier would have eliminated most riders. Holders performance in New Zealand last year would have eliminated from the competition and any World championship aspirations would have been over. So yes the current SGP series is more forgiving. harder? possibly, better? I don't know about that, but obviously appealing.. I have always felt it would be better if all the riders had to qualify instead of top 10, getting free entry plus wild cards, for next year....... Don't seem fair to me....

I have no intention of looking Penhall up. I know exactly how good a rider he was.

You said itd be tough for Holder to win back to back world titles and that you thought Penhall was the last to do so " recently" despite being in the early 80s, over 30 years ago!

Just admit you got it wrong instead of digging a hole and making yourself look a fool.

Your the only one proving to be a fool here Sidney... You make steve brum look intelligent!!

Your point was you thought no rider had retained a world title since penhall which in fact proved to be wrong as a least two riders have done it.

Why would i want to research riders from the 80s? I wasnt even born until 89 so have little interest in riders from a past era that i wasnt around to watch. Know they were good riders and good on them but it really is irrelevent.

Quite what Holder possibly retaining a title has to do with bruce penhall and erik gundersen who raced in a different era under a different format, i do not know

He was asked for his opinion and gave it dunno why his is any less valid than anyone else.

This Poole nonsense has gone on far too long.

So Ward is a worthless scroat but he is a damn good speedway rider.

I would not put it past him to be in the top two and Holder to repeat last years feat.

The old guard will have something to say about that I am sure but it's good to see the young turks in the mix.

Should be interesting.

because its not opinion from him. he is biased and cant see past the end of his poole nose. it is possible they could be 1-2 and yes Darcy is a future champion but just think he will need a year to get it right.

notice how shovlar mentions no other riders but the poole boys? he has probably got kk and lindback as 3rd and 4th and then isnt sure who else is racing
