luluthetiger
Nice to see us get one of the british semis up our neck of the woods been a while since we had something like this. It is probable that having Alex Harkess at the top of the table has brought pressure to bear on BSPA decision-making regarding bigger events. Edinburgh follow Berwick in being awarded big nights, and for those tired of having to make 600-mile-plus round trips to see such meetings, a sprinkling of good meetings in the "true north" must be a godsend. Note to world: Sheffield, Scunthorpe and Stoke are NOT "up north". They are all nearer London than Edinburgh! SCOTLAND1314
It would be great if Cookie and perhaps Tully could be part of the semi final meeting line up along with some of the EL guys. Nice to see a big event heading north again. Hopefully a big crowd will turn up also. Overall good news.

luluthetiger
Do we know if this is a "real" semi-final with 50% of the best of British riders competing, or a watered-down meeting after the guys like Nichols, Tai, Kennett, etc have already been seeded through to the British Final? If there will be a fair proportion of big names, it will indeed be a great night.

Will Richie Worrall upset the apple cart? Or perhaps there is a further surprise in store. Excellent value being offered by the promotion. iris123
Great line-up which should keep the momentum going from the promising start made to the season.
Boobs
A pretty fair allocation of riders to the two meetings. Two big nights, with some cut'n'thrust stuff over the last few heats to decide on the last places in the Final!
Mr Blobby
I see that Leigh Lanham has pulled out of the Semi Final at Edinburgh and is being replaced by Charles Wright.

Mr Blobby
Well with just over 24 hours left till this one it should be all systems go. The forecast is sunny all day for the Armadale area so Doc and his crew should have no problems at all getting the track race ready. Can't wait for this one hopefully a big crowd will be in attendance and the racing on track is great as well. Hopefully Cookie will show the big boys the fastest way around the Dale. Also guys and girls remember if you are going to this one and you have not bought your advanced ticket online yet please do so, it is a great deal to see 20 exciting heats for only £15 it's a great offer as you are saving £3 on entry to the stadium but the deal finishes tonight (Thursday) at 11.59pm. The link for the discounted tickets are below. http://tickets.monar.../semi-final.asp Edited April 18, 2013 by Mr Blobby

SCOTLAND1314
Courtesy of Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news/article.asp?id=1307 Another big crowd enjoyed the racing last night and although there wasn't a real upset there were some decent races. Danny King won the meeting on count back (winning due to his win over home favourite Cookie in heat 11) and looked very classy all evening. Cookie didn't look out of place in this company and with the exception of one second place looked a country mile ahead of the rest. Eddie Kennett looked like an early match favourite as he rattled off 3 wins on the trot (including an awarded win after Chris Harris introduced him to the 2nd bend fence part the way through their heat 7 clash - it is a shame the race ended this way as it was brewing up into a belter) Chris Harris had looked very good in his first one with an excellent trap but thereafter had to generally battle his way through the field in his races due to poor gating. Although this was much to the liking of the crowd as his pacy bursts into the turns really were a sight to behold. Other notable performances - Richie Worrall - I'm always impressed when I see this chap race, only defeated by the three main EL boys and Cookie and Robson. Robson looked solid. The Glasgow pairing of Wright and Grieves providing some decent racing also with the latter a little unlucky not to score one or two more. I'd also like to mention that Kyle Howarth also looks like he might enjoy being in this company in the not too distant future as he scored 6 from the 3 races he finished. Good to spend some time with George.m, I hope to see you back at the Dale soon. We'll get you up to the 3/4 turn next time.... it's ok you'll be safe ;-)
