Well thats a turn up.

Woffy clearly far from fit.

Holder battling

Nicki P again showing his class

Darcy looked slow - will have better gp's but still struggles when the pressure is applied so doubt he would have got anywhere. hope he is ok after the crash

No excuse at all. Woffinden went to the meeting as the defending champion and should have been at the peak of preparation, both in regard to himself and his racing equipment.

Obviously wouldn't have questioned that except he got better race by race. Also he never looked in it at all the first two races, so was wondering if the sudden drastic improvement was a change of bikes or alteration to his engines.

or maybe a trip to the track doctor for some pain relief

Well that was a very enjoyable evening. Gutted that kk blew the final as my bet on him would have covered my evening. Good racing much improved on last year. Crowd if I had to estimate maybe 10k. Certainly well down on tge first one. Speedway so nuch better under lights. And bunyan didnt come last.

I must be a lucky charm for germans, i was there in 83 for mullers victory also.

Sat by tais gf plus a bunch of heavily intoxicated darcy mates from 4300.

Would love it to come back next year but chances must be very slim indeed. Good to meet briggo pre meeting.

Hope darcy ok, smoli just hit the rut which has been there every year - remember emil cleaning out nicki in the same way in 2012.

Care to explain how he could have been better prepared? Im pretty sure he didnt intentionally injure himsrlf last weekend!

This may be your most ludicrous comment yet!

Your posts most of the time sadly make you look stupid-exactly one week ago Tai discharged himself from a Leicester hospital against doctors advice following a big off in heat 15.You really must keep up with the news if you are going to comment on the GP`s

i really enjoyed the meeting and well done to the German, anyone but Pedersen what a dirty rider thank god he didnt collect Chris in the semi final. The racing was excellent different lines it did cut up though ruts on the inside Lindgren was outstanding i think he showed what he is capable of at this level.Pedersen that's why i think he is not up there with the real greats we know you have to be tough in competition but he constantly goes to far in my book. A shame really because he is that good he does not need to do it.

Tbf, nielsen penhall olsen would all have done what nicki did and shut the door. A real heart in mouth moment, but he had the lead and thrrefore entitled to do what he did, dirty/hard as it may have been .

Showed a lot of guts and bottle tonight, really should not of been riding. injuries are part and parcel of the sport and i take my hat off to Tai he will be in the mix at the end of the series.

They were all hard but fair,do you not think the race was similar to the Penhall v Olsen race in 81?where Ole fairly gave Bruce racing room at the finish.Nicki is great value and a great rider but for me he pushes thing's a tad to far.

Agree with that sidney.

Congratulations to Martin on the win, I wonder what comments Chris Harris will come up with.

no I think ole stuffed up in 81and thought penhall was coming up the inside and left it too late to block him. U reckon penhall would have let carter go round him?

Good point Bruce did outfox Ole and that was rarely done but my point was if Chris had not of been so alert and aware and was head down that could of been a dire incident in the semi Final.

I think most of us thought Smoli was there to make up the numbers, me included, well he has proved us doubters all wrong :D . I dont mind saying he thouroughly deserved his win, and it will be a great boost for Speedway in Germany, and an added boost for the GP,s. Well done Martin Smolinski you have proven that dedication can win through in the end, and that nice guys can win. smoli, smoli, smoli. :t:

Fantastic for Smolinski, superb determination throughout by him.

Chris Harris looks so lacking in confidence do you think?

Harris once again is out of his depth. Every year in the GP's there's always one or two who are in it who shouldnt be and he's definitely the one for this season. Just how many "lucky chances" has he had to be in the GP's over the years? Such a shame to see the premier event in Speedway devalued with people like him in it every round (and I know he tries hard bless him, but he's just going to make a fool out of himself again like in 2012)

It's true. There's always those who shouldn't be there. Last year it was Woffinden. Smolinski this year. It devalues the whole thing.

Bloody hell give the lad a break, it's one meeting, I'd much rather have 2 Brits in the series, he'll have his moments throughout the season and after Tai he's the best we've got.

Is he going to be crowned World Champion - no, is he capable making the odd semi and maybe a final - most definitely.

Freddie Lindgren has been getting free tickets for years and done very little, let's throw him out as well, in fact lets cut the field to 12 riders and have done with it.

Any newcomer watching the sport for the first time would of enjoyed this meeting and would watch again. It just shows what a great sport and product that we have such a shame that everybody cannot work together. And really push the whole speedway scene forward criminal really can it happen in my lifetime i very much doubt it.

That is a long-term problem for Western Springs. The ruts are the result of its mainstream action, mainly sprint cars and midget cars. They have been foraged good and deep for many years. Speedway - if the GPs continue over the next couple of years - will just have to live with them.

The ruts were nowhere near as bad as many GP tracks especially the like of Cardiff where the only excitement surrounds when they will appear. Praise for the Organisers but not quite as much as Tapp and Crump suggested
