penchev
Interesting comments made in this weeks speedway star by Paul Ackroyd, several riders promised to ride in this event however they have since chosen to ride in one or both of the other meetings taking place, two of them having received money from the fund last year. Disgusting!

Disgusting! That is quite awful. People on here have earlier condoned riders opting for the southern testimonials this weekend. I hope this information makes them realise how small-minded people can be. I too, feel like Lulu -- 'disgusting' isn't nearly harsh enough a word to use. crescent girl
Quite shocking to read about riders with double standards regarding the Ben Fund. This also should mean that Hans Andersen and Chris Harris should get an extra cheer on Saturday night. As should Kozza Smith, Mads Korneliussen and Ludvig Lindgren. These guys aren't too proud, too lazy or too small-minded to ride in one of the testimonials and find time for the Ben Fund too. Well done. DSC67
I'd like to take the opportunity to say good luck to all the riders taking part in this meeting , as they say in these parts , "Safe Out - Safe In ". The so called " Stars " who reneged on their promises to attend wont be missed. It doesn't matter if your a 3 time world champ or a national league novice its all about supporting the cause , its sad to hear that riders who have needed help from the fund don't fancy helping support it, you never know when they might need it again, hopefully never , but speedway is a dangerous sport and accidents happen .If any rider is unfortunate enough to require the fund's help then perhaps they will take time to remember and thank those who have given up their time to raise the money. I'm sure it will be a great night with some good racing and a large some of money will be raised for the fund.

emilali
The usual drama and bad publicity surrounding speedway and its only the 1st meeting of the season. No wonder the sport is going down the toilet in this country. Run by jokers with to many over rated over hyped mercenaries.
Fromafar
Must be disapointing for Paul Ackroyd when these riders let him down for such a good cause ,when a little bit of effort is all that was required to help him out. I am sure the riders that turn out will put a good show , and a good crowd will turn out to support the event.
Catch Me If You Can
Name names. No doubt some of the so called superstars among them perhaps?? It should not be too hard to find the culprits?? Persons who allowed these testimonials on at same time as Ben should take a long hard look too! When I looked earlier it was forecast for rain all of tomorrow and light rain most of Saturday, hope they put the covers on!!!! With football on too I cant see that happening The usual drama and bad publicity surrounding speedway and its only the 1st meeting of the season. No wonder the sport is going down the toilet in this country. Run by jokers with to many over rated over hyped mercenaries. Riders should support the Ben Fund though, given that many will have been supported by it! Actually its second meeting of season but who is counting? chopper
I can speak from Roberts experience how important the ben fund is.When a rider is hurt the engine tuner, spares van etc still need to be paid. With the insurance companies dragging there heels the Ben fund were the first to come forward with help which I can ensure you was very much needed and appreciated. So a big well done to all rides and supporters that attend and donate during the season. bigeddiechek
All the more reason to get to Berwick and support the riders that are coming. It says a hell of a lot about what type of people they are. Every single rider will be getting well deserved shouts of support from the 3rd bend. Great to see on Facebook that so many Glasgow fans planning to come down, and sure there are plenty other fans making the trip. Personally I think it is a good line-up, plenty of scalps to be had at all levels, and no prima donnas.

Lioness
just on a sort of positive side, SRBF always brings back memories to me of one of the first people from BSF I met who worked tirelessly for them despite being ill and is sadly no longer with us. RIP Cheetahhawk. There are others who now also work tirelessly for the fund and without them the fund would not run and I doff my cap to them as they say. They deserve better than riders pulling out when they work hard to put together an event that they hopefully will never have to call on but is there in case they do.
bigeddiechek
Light drizzle for most of today, perfect for the track I would have thought. It's going to be cold, but dry going by tomorrow's forecast. Can't see there being any problems
screm
This time last week spring had sprung, now it feels we are heading back to winter.Cold drizzle for most of the day blowing off the North Sea by an easterly wind.Happily tomorrows forecast is better, this drizzle we have will last off and on for most of the night and into daylight hours,as the day goes on things will improve, though it will be cold.
