Is this still going on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget about the Topinka meeting and concentrate on what we have . We will have a balanced field which should give us a great start to the season . I , for one , am looking forward to it immensely .

They could put an NL field out and I'd still be going. I've seen so many riders hurt over the years that this meeting is a must for me.

Totally agree, for me this is a major part in the speedway calender.

Yes riders have the choice is where to ride, but if you have already agreed to ride in the ben fund, don't pull out to ride in a testimonial , hopefully they will never need financial help from the ben fund, but there are ex riders who do.

Some big names would help in getting a crowd, but for me i was always going to this.

Must admit Im struggling to understand the anomosity towards the timing of Topinka`s Testimonial,he`s only doing what the Lindgren, and the Ben Fund organisers are trying to do,ie,get as good as field as possible for their meeting.

Don't think it's animosty, just a cynical view of the decision to hold the TT meet the day before the Ben Fund. It could easily have been held on Monday 11th, and still picked up the same set of top riders, all wanting their practice before the NZ GP.

In fact, it's possible the TT meet could have been held on the 12th or 13th - will many of the top riders not still be around for the Bob Kilby and the Brandonapolis?

Cook and Pijper coming according to the Edinburgh Evening News tonight

It was mentioned in last weeks Speedway Star that there would be an Edinburgh rider or two in the line up.Hopefully that will encourage one or two fans down to support them and the meeting.

From memory Buster said at the team announcement event that they wanted to run the TT meeting as early as possible in the season and having asked the authorities were informed that Friday 8th was the first opportunity.

While some may question Lynn's role in this it also worth asking why the BSPA didn't tell them Monday 11th.

Do you REALLY think that if Topinka's meeting had been on the Monday instead of the Friday it would have made any difference at all?

You don't think that the same riders would have done Sunday & Monday rather than Friday & Sunday?

I don't think any of the criticism is aimed at Topinka himself, the Kings Lynn promotion or the BSPA, who will have simply confirmed the early start to the season being applicable due to Easter falling in March (just).

The individual riders ha e chosen to take the money on offer at Kings Lynn & Wolverhampton, accept two meetings as being enough competitive practice ahead of the NZ GP, and to ignore the opportunity to help raise funds for their less fortunate colleagues - and, should fate twist that way, themselves.

These are,of course the same riders who want to milk British tracks for what they can get - but at the same time not bother to compete in a full league structure, hence the shambles that is the Elite League at present.

There's no pint int "hang their heads in shame" posts, because they won't feel any. Should they all suffer catastrophic engine failures over the weekend, while initially being amusing, won't affect them as their sponsors will pick up the tab.

The greatest competition will be an ironic one between the speed with which one of these "superstars" bangs in a claim on the Ben Fund resources, and some bobble hatted buffoon posts on here about "the speedway family".

3 Gp Riders for the bob kilby meeting, still none for the ben fund....what is going on? (dont wanna travel north)

in fact i hope no grand prix riders turn up for the ben fund now.

Is money there priority?

Id hope the riders will be giving their time for free.

Im sure "bigger names" will be added closer to the time, but surely the meaning behind the meeting should be reasing enough to get people along to Shielfield on March 9th.Obviously a GP rider or two will help increase the gate.

I'd personally like to see no gp stars added! Can't be bothered with this superiority and nonchalant attitude towards a fund raising event!

What these ' stars' need to remember is they can ride a bike! This doesnt make them above anything or doing things to help others, or some sort of higher being!
