Pascal Swart - Available For Nl Team Place

Sadly that tell us all we need to know about the current state of British speedway really.A rider who has done 10 years on a 500cc in Europe and hardly anyone has heard of will come over into the junior/development league on a 3 or 5 point average(if he passes the first glance test)with no real future ahead of him,and will not be putting any rider who is just starting, out of a place.Indicative of the real problem British speedway has at all levels from top to bottom.I have nothing against Pascal personally and don't really want to carry this on as it will look like i have.I have stated in the past and will again now for those who don't know my opinion, that i would have nothing against foreign riders(limited to 1 per team)of any sort in the NL as long as it will help the league/team.Say a decent young Dane or German who is just starting out and looks to have a good future and will bring people through the turnstiles. What i don't like is riders who are going nowhere and are cynically using the chance of a British passport to gain a place in the lower league.I would hope we have enough riders with little experience to fill up the places.

There are more than enough riders to fill the spaces In both the MDL and NL Iris . no problem at all .there are loads of lads at Nl standard who dont have team places and are Pissed off about the fact , so trying to get team places for Dutch riders in our training leagues will only have the effect of making more genuine british prospects become disillusioned and walk away from speedway . . Phil Morris brings them on with his under 15 training program and then when they should be ready to step up theres nowhere for them to step up to !!

and will not be putting any rider who is just starting, out of a place.

he most definitely will . pick one from the list I posted earlier . and that was only some of them .

I think we are all starting to miss the argument here.

Pascal has neither been offered an NL or MDL team place. He is coming over for 2 weeks in April for a trial.

I have agreed to help him in the time he is here and to book him in the rides in mdl and ajl meetings which his British passport and licence entitles him to.

It is upto him to determine his own destiny, if he is good enough then maybe a promoter will be interested - if not then at least he will have had a chance.

I will gladly help anyone that comes asking me. If that is a crime to do so then I put my hands up and apologise.

Sadly you seem incapable of seeing the damage your actions could cause. Perhaps you should consider your position within the sport.

Bit strong!

Without the likes of Kelvin many youngsters would be lost to the sport - you might not agree with him but that is anybody's prerogative.

In a country where we ship in 300,000 odd foreigners a year, most whom I doubt very much have any allegiance to the U.K. and no doubt taking the jobs of young Brits taking the moral high ground about one guy who allegedly has patriality seems a bit OTT.

No doubt in Australia there is a major row over the likes of Joe Jacobs riding over there again this winter, although that I very much doubt - they will get on with it and raise their level trying to beat him.

Look at the PL and EL, full of British riders - not - sad fact is clubs seem just as likely to look for foreign riders to the exclusion of Brits.

Best of luck to Pascall if he can get a ride here alongside the likes of Adam Ellis who is no different, and rather than take the negative view maybe ask wider questions why such a young talent like Robert Lambert needs to ride abroad in an effort to better himself.

It matters not one iota whether he has patriality or not, in reality he is a no mark foreigner trying to take rides off British Riders. No problem with him doing that, it shows a level of ambition, howwever misplaced. The point is that someone in Kevins position should not be helping him to that end and in doing so is making his position untenable

Oldace I dont know who you are but I bet Kelvin has done more for BRITISH speedway than you can dream off.

As Milton Keynes team manger its a hard job to get 4 riders to ride sometimes. I help the American touring team every and the U21 team squad, so that must make me as bad!!!!!!

Is it any wonder when the powers that be are falling over themselves to develop Dutch and American riders at the expense of our own

Last time a checked american riders cannot ride in NL.

When the americans riders was over earlier in the year. I was asked by Len Silver to put a second half on at Rye House after the american meeting.

I must of spent most of the day on the phone trying to get 8 riders,

I also spend a large amount of time a training days with riders free of charge.

When was the last time you did anything like that.

You seem to want anybody that helps overseas riders to resign from the postions.

You just sit on a keyboard and slag people off for just helping

Do you know how the MDL started?

Chris

I do . but I'm sure there are some on this thread who don't and would be interested to know .

Not really, and i aint interested either. it simply pains me to see someone trying to help a no mark foreigner take rides off brits.

When you have finished questioning what I have done for the young Brits do you think that is a good thing or not

1. His mother is British so that means he is as well, just because you don't like it doesn't make it any less true.

2. I don't know Kelvin or Chris but it sounds like British riders will be worse off without them around trying to help and that is the most likely outcome of people like yourself slagging them off. Tell me how many rides will the lads that even you agree are British will lose then.

3. One of the major problems in British Speedway is that people who do nothing to help but are very objectionable on internet forums make those who do actually do something for the sport give up, feeling that nobody is backing them. Like this thread, the critics are a minority but often a very vocal one and it must make the people who are trying to organise some Speedway for midlands lads wonder whether it is worthwhile.

Trust you must be on a wind up - see you follow Belle Vue, no Brits in first 2012 declared team + a few questionable no marks - good one :t:

Agree with Vince we should be grateful for many of the unsung behind the scenes people who put a lot into our sport.

so Gronigen Holland is in the midlands now is it .?

No but how many riders from the midlands have benefitted from their efforts and is that worth jeopardising to whinge about one rider who, if the only poster to know anything about him is right, is unlikely to get a NL place anyway?

I would be suprised if your posts on here haven't cost your boy a lot more rides than this lad ever will.

If he's good enough and has a British passport let him try his luck. If he's that good he'll get an offer, from experience I know that just to come over here and drive up and down the country doing second halves,( and sometimes if the meeting overruns doing hundreds of miles for nothing!) if he isn't up to it he won't get an offer . Same as anyone else. There's lots of riders who no matter how hard they try will never make it. It's not favouratism, it's a level playing field.
