Pascal Swart - Available For Nl Team Place

I am posting this on behalf of a young rider I have agreed to help find a team place in the National League.

Pascal Swart is a 23 year old from Gronigen in the Netherlands and has been riding Speedway and Grasstrack on the continent for a few years, having seen him ride in Belgium he looks decent enough and has some very good equipment and sponsors.

Pascal came to me a month ago asking for help - I told him that the NL is not open to Dutch riders but then he told me something that changed all that - He is half BRITISH!

Pascal's mother is from Portsmouth and moved to the Netherlands with Pascal's father. He will be coming over in January with his mother to obtain his British passport and from there will apply for an ACU licence.

I have explained to Pascal that most NL teams are pretty much sorted now and would probably not sign him on a 5 as nobody would have heard of him. To show what he can do Pascal will be coming over for a week or two in April 2013 where we will book him as many 2nd half rides as possible in the MDL and AJL so promoters can get a good look at him.

If there are any promoters reading this who would be interested please contact me via teamvikingsw@aol.com

As stated above Pascal have very good equipment and sponsors and is ultra keen to ride in the National league. He also speaks perfect English (probably better than most of us!)

Cheers

You should be ashamed of yourself . genuine british Kids are on the sidelines because there are no places left and you want to fill spaces in the national league with fake Brits I hope the BSPA are watching you bending the rules and openly advertising the fact .and take appropriate action .

And should he be successful in gaining a British passport and an ACU licence, what "appropriate action" would that be?

If you agree that the MDL co-ordinators should be actively seeking to take opportunities from real british lads then you have some sort of problem . I dont know if there is any appropriate action that the BSPA can take but if there is I hope they do . . no wonder theres no british kids coming through when you have people involved in the lowest tier of speedway taking it upon themselves to promote foreigners in preference to genuine british kids ,and people like you encouraging them .

Partriality is a 5

So will he hold an ancestral visa(patriality)? which he doesn't need as he is EU citizen and therefore probably no facility to apply for it or a full British passport which I imagine entitles him to a 3.If he is half british should he not be treated as Branford, Morris, Heeps and the like?

Which ever way good luct to the lad.

Alternatively, you could read my post. I don't have "some sort of problem" and I'm not "encouraging them". Indeed, I have taken no stance on the issue.

You, in contrast, have had a knee-jerk reaction. I've posed a question; you have confessed to being unable to answer it and had a swipe at me in the process. Good work. Carry on.

Yeah ok,but he is 23,been riding speedway for a number of years and isn't very good.Surely there must be a british youngster out there that can take a team place and maybe just maybe move up.Can't see Swart ever being a PL standard rider,so what is the point? He is hardly going to put bums on seats either....

Neither do I, good luck to the lad.

yes good luck to the lad . maybe when there are a few more like James Whyte - Williams and a very long list of other genuine british kids who have given up speedway through frustration at lack of opportunity . the MDL and NL can offer opportunities to anyone who has even the most tentative link to a british passport . I dont personally hold anything against Pascal he will like everybody else take what chances he can get . what really annoys me is the co-ordinator of the mdl which is supposed to be the breeding ground for a new generation of british talent using his influence to promote yet more bloody foreigners to take whatever opportunities they can from the mouths of those he is supposed to be championing , these people have influence at the very core of British speedway and seek to take away opportunities from the very people they should be breaking their necks to help , no wonder British speedway is in such a sorry state .

Simon - I have always valued your opinions but on this matter I truly beleive that you don't know what you are talking about.

I find you statement that I am using my position as co-ordinator to bend the rules very hurtfull indeed. I am simply helping a lad who under the rules of the BSPA can ride in the national league. I dont think you can question my agenda for helping British riders as I would never have set up the MDL if I was using it for other purposes. I have been on the phone numerous times to try and get MDL riders team places (including your own son) all season long as that is the aim of the MDL.

For the record the reigning "British" under 18 Champion Stefan Nielsen is half Britsh and I don't hear anyone complaining about that. Indeed Jason Jorgensen is also half British and I'm sure nobody will complain about that if he rides here once he turns 15.

I think the big difference and surely you can see that,is that both Stefan and more so Jason have what looks like a decent career ahead of them.Hand on heart if you have seen him,you can't say the same about Pascal. It isn't the same situation. But at least he will be over to show promoters what he can do.Better than signing someone up without seeing him like Berwick did with Hertrich last season in the PL!!!!!

Pascal will be 24 before the season starts and will be doing his 10th season on 500cc in 2013.Come on..........

Thanks Iris123, Stafan is a big talent. I have never seen Jason ride but I have heard very good things about him.

I take on board your comments about Pascal. I have not promised him a team place but only an opportunity for him to come over and show what he can do, the rest is upto him :)

hi just to make a point on pascal with his availabilty to ride in the N/L he's just as much entitled to ride as a brit as his mother is english & would come in on an average of 3 as long as he has'nt rode in a dutch national meeting so it's nothing to do with bending any rules, at least his mother is english, unlike some aussies that come over & want to use patriality because of grandparents they probably haven't even met, so good look to pascal.

I know exactly what I am talking about and so do you , having had many conversations with you over the years about the best way to promote British riders for British speedway , to be honest I find your opening post both offensive and hurtful for a number of reasons . but it's not worth arguing the toss , there have been so many instances of the kind of behaviour you are promoting that the national league is now full of plastic brits while the real british kids drift away to other sports or just leave speedway disenchanted by the lack of opportunities . so the MDL which started with so much promise has now become Europes training scheme . just like all the other initiatives that have been put in place to further the future of British speedway riders winds up being used for the benefit of foreigners .
