SCB
fingers crossed that this slight scare will make people appreciate what they've got. There's been a fair bit of bashing on Sky's presentation over the past few years. Hopefully this will make people realise that having speedway on TV that they don't necessarily enjoy is better than no speedway at all. No, this proves that there are other people interested in showing speedway. So we can slag it off as someone else will take it. in the same way that no clubs has closed down in recent years due to there being no potential promoter because we've upset them. It's a silly response. Maybe if Grand Prix speedway moved to another channel, Eurosport, BT Vision, or Premier Sports, it might take on a more prominent role and not get pushed behind the red button?Sky are the masters of sports broadcasting, but there was also a lot of frustration at the way the events were squashed into a small time window, with no build-up, no real analysis at the end, and constant toing and froing between the track and the studio. Surely red button is better than obscure channel, how it is any different for us watching? However far less chance of a casual person catching it on motor TV or whatever than if 805 of GPs are on Sky Sports (with the other 20% on the red button). also, we're told the footage will be the same so whoever else gets it will show the same toing and froing to and from a studio. Eglese 19
Nigel's ok apart from his love for Gollob! He has a passion for the sport and IMO does a fairly good job at building excitement. As for Tatum I'm not the biggest fan in the world

Premier sports is not hd so that rules them out. That only leaves 2 left (if sky sports are defo out) 1,Eurosport 2,bt channel. As the bt sports channel doesn't start till later on in the summer my money would be on Eurosport.
New Science
THAT has been a particular bone of contention with BSI especially as ever effort has been made - successfully I might add - to conclude the GPs within the allotted time frame. I am a fan of Sky and the manner in which they present sport but their coverage of the SGP series, from the perspective of their Isleworth studio, has not kept pace with the times and has been very stale for some time. Hopefully the new broadcaster will take the opportunity of bringing a new slant to add to the high quality HD pictures that they will be receiving from the BSI production team at each event. Must feel like being at confession Phil, didn't here you describing Sky as" very stale" when the talks for the Sky contract renewal was ongoing. Appreciate you may be on a gagging order not to criticise the powers that be(BSPA,BSI,FIM,Ole Olsen,Nigel Pearson etc)At least in the past couple of days we have learnt your real opinions on Sky SGP coverage and speedway's possible European cup after both were scrapped this week. iris123
Phil likes to wait until someone is down before putting the boot in.Well apart from Charlie the talented girl in the pits.I get the feeling Phil doesn't like her much and she hasn't even hit the floor yet

iris123
Oh the irony. I don't have to wait.I tell it like i see it straight away.Try and make a decent contribution to the forum once in a while.I think you will see that i was one of the forum members who didn't think the Euro League would work right from the start.Didn't have to wait for it to fail before putting my opinion on here.It does however seem a bit ironic that after all the stick "the know" has been getting for saying amongst other things he thinks the GPs have gone stale that now Phil mentions Sky coverage had gone stale.Maybe it isn't all to do with the coverage, but actually "the know" is right. But you wouldn't expect Phil to say BSI/IMG have run out of ideas.Easier to blame a tv company who have dropped out..........i await your contribution!!!!!

WHY would I say that BSI/IMG have run out of ideas when they plainly haven't. I have criticised Sky's SGP studio setup before and that had nothing to do with BSI/IMG... they supplied the pictures but Sky were responsible for that part of the show. Sky could have done so much more had they actually bothered to have a 'team' on site far more often than they did. But they clearly showed what could be achieved at the SWC meetings when they supplemented the world feed with cameras and interviewers of their own. Obviously Sky had a budget and stuck by it but I doubt it would have cost much more than their studio presentation with guests who, let's face it, were only watching the same pictures as the TV viewers. Quite obviously if they had been on site they would have had a much better grasp of what was actually going on, been able to see the pits throughout, and that in itself would have enhanced their opinions and output. When you look at how far Sky's coverage of footy has progressed, admittedly with far more resources and money, you can get an idea of what can be achieved.
