No Gps On Sky Television Next Year?

Recommended Posts

I'm hearing that Sky have announced they will NOT be showing the GP's this year

Its all over twitter from a number of riders which probably means it is true!! Hopefully ESPN will take it up, otherwise I will have to try and find it somewhere on the internet.

Would still like to see Sky show the British GP as a one off. As its in this country. Be a bit of a poor show if they didn't..

I'm sure BSI have contingency plans if no deal can be struck incumbent broadcaster. The viewing figures held up well even on the minor SS channel. I am pretty sure that they will do a deal with a UK broadcaster to show the GP's.

I hope you are right - but - I have my doubts.

It's not theirs to show. Do you think BSI is going to say "no, that's fine, drop us in the crap but feel free to show the (apparently) biggest GP of them all (apart from Terenzano, obviously).

Once again the speedway fan gets shafted. This rumour has been ongoing for months and now it finally seems the deal has fallen through. Still at least a representative of the grand prix, bsi or sky have released a statement... oh they havent? Ah well in that case i will pretend im not a member of this forum or twitter and subscribe to sky sports this summer for me and my family to watch our favourite sport speedway...

Can not comment on this information at the min but will not be on ESPN as they have sold all their current rights to BT today

Such a shame that BT sports is not launching until July

Why on earth should SKY release a statement?

I think what Dudleywood 4eva is getting at is that SKY have not officially announced, one way or the other, whether or not they will be covering the GPs on their Channels. Flagrag states in an earlier Post, as shown above that there is still some doubt as to which way the decision will go. Either BSI or SKY should say something in my opinion - WE are their Customers after all.

We must wait and see I suppose.

Well at least communicate something to viewers who pay good hard earnes money. Thats why. Its still on the sky sports website and folks are expecting it to be screened.

Sky haven't issued a press release detailing ANY of the sports or events they're not covering.

As far as their website is concerned, it also includes Olympics news - how much of that did they cover?

Unless you turn up at a GP venue, you're not a customer of BSI.

Presumably they're sorting out a deal elsewhere.

Preferably a temporary solution for the early part of the season & then BT Sports.
