pandorum
Sky do not produce the Cardiff and UK World Cup coverage it is done by BSI with Steve Saint in control all Sky do as host broadcaster is arrange the broadcast facilities which they don't own anyway. I am sure Telegenic Sky's usual on provider for Speedway will be more than happy to deal direct with BSI and Steve. Interesting info Flaggy. So they provide all the camera's, vans etc as a contractor. Well let's hope Cardiff isn't lost then as it was the best of the GPs in terms of atmosphere and showcase for the sport. PHILIPRISING
Is it not one of IMG group's companies - maybe Trans-World Sport? BSI provide the coverage of ALL GPs... they use various production companies across Europe in conjunction with the 'host' broadcaster but generally either one from Poland or Denmark. All of which operate under the overall control of BSI and their appointed TV Director Steve Saint, whose company (Artifexmedia) produce the highlights package. Also see flagrag's informed answer above.
pandorum
All the more reason to go and watch it live then I would but I am Ochlophobic which means the only speedway i could go and see would be at Arena
Star Lady
If it does go to Premier sports unfortunately it won't be same quality as they are only an SD broadcaster and at low bandwidth so although they will get HD feed will be down converted for broadcast Won't bother me one iota. It will still be four maniacs chasing each other round a track
PHILIPRISING
I dont see the two are linked at all. Isn't it only the last few years SKY have had the contract anyway. Didn't Chrysalis (now all3Media I think) not have the world feed contract prior to that? AGAIN, they worked for BSI as it was then.
oldace
AGAIN, they worked for BSI as it was then. Yes Phil I am aware of that, the point I was trying to make is that even if SKY dont broadcast the GPs is there any reason they wont be contracted to provide the world feed as in the last few years
flagrag
I don't see any reason why BSI could not use Sky sports at Cardiff as the host broadcaster even though they have no live rights. In fact this is the most common sense option as Sky Speedway production team have many years experience and know which crew to use along with OB facilities partner Telegenic. A lot depends on who the UK broadcaster is as Premier sports in fairness are mainly a rebroadcaster and produce very little themselves just a bit of non league football and some rugby league. Upto BSI and Steve who they use really to cover Cardiff
screm
Obviously its not going to be on Sky but its got to be live coverage for me,a highlights package days or weeks after the event wont be supported through viewing figures IMO.

I agree there highlights I doubt I will even watch even it was on the next day has to be live or nothing .
Daniel Smith
Yep, has to be Live for me too. I tend to Sky+ & watch about an hour or two behind just to blitz through adverts & ramblings. If anything is beyond the Live feed the result is already known and the interest is lost to watch isn't there.
ziggyman17
sky are going to look like idiots if as expected they don't show the gps and then start talking about the meetings on a monday night at their elite league meeting.. Nigel Pearson was tweeting the other day that this years gps has the potential to be the best yet, I wonder how he will answer the question of sky not showing the gps series?? PHILIPRISING
BUT, and this is a personal view, would BSI/IMG want to provide that facility after being dumped by Sky?

tarabanko
Rob Armstrong Global Head of Motorsport is he the man who are responsibly at IMG for the FIM Speedway World Championships to be sold to tv companys? http://www.imgworld.com/services/categories/motorsports.aspx Hope for gods sake that all you in UK will see the GP's and SWC at your telly and NOT through a proxy from another country on the internet. PHILIPRISING
AT the end of the day Rob has the final say as far as the motorsport division is concerned but TV negotiations are primarily handled by IMG Media in consultation with Paul Bellamy, Managing Director of BSI Speedway, a wholly owned IMG company. I think we are close to an announcement about where, when and how the SGP series is shown on TV in the UK but (Pirates of Poole) I don't think it will be the combination that you describe. Could be wrong ... it has happened before. Although as Ole Olsen likes to say ... my first rule of life is that I am always right. My second is that even when I am wrong I am right. PS to the anti-Ole brigade: he was joking ... I think!
