There will also be other attractions on the day such as a Collector's Fayre during the afternoon, the 'Men In Black' doing some heats on vintage bikes during the meeting, with the bikes on display before the meeting gets under-way, plus hopeful of arranging some pit-bike races prior to the start of meeting itself.

This is on my Birthday happy days will be off to this one

Why not suggest that someone purchases you a ticket for the meeting as a Birthday Present?

Tickets for the meeting can be bought in advance as a Christmas or Birthday Pressie by writing to the club (Speedway Office, Somerset Rebels Speedway, Oaktree Arena, Bristol Road, Edithmead, Nr Highbridge, Somerset, TA9 4HA) enclosing a cheque for £16.00 (payable to Somerset Speedway 2011Ltd) and an sae.

Despite my moaning about the time of the meeting, I may be tempted to this. Looks like a pretty decent, solid line up. No obvious winner, no obvious loser (unless Randy Oldenziel is rubbish) and I may just be tempted to make the journey if I'm getting bored over Christmas.

Next Friday's (28th) Salt Express Sponsored Christmas Cracker Meeting will run as follows:

The turnstiles will open at 2.30pm to accommodate long distance travellers who arrive at the track earlier than anticipated, but please note that food will not be available for purchase until approximately 4pm.

During the afternoon there will be a Collector's Fayre, whilst the vintage bikes that will be raced by the 'Men In Black' during the course of the main meeting will be on display.

There will also be a 'start-line simulator' for fans to have a try out on, it is hoped that some of the earlier arrivals amongst the riders might also have a go to set a time for the fans to try to beat.

The pits will be open until approximately 6pm, the meeting race-card (priced £1.00 which is available for purchase upon entry) will have rider pictures and spaces for those who wish to collect the various rider's autographs.

The 'Somerset Legends' Pit-Bike Challenge will then take place at about 6pm, this involving Steve Bishop, Glenn Cunningham & Gary Phelps, with Simon Walker also possibly taking part. Depending on time, there might be additional pit-bike races prior to the rider parade for the Cracker Meeting which will take place at 6.40pm, with tapes up on heat 1 at 7pm. The meeting being run over 20 heats with the top 4 scorers contesting the Cracker Final.

When there are natural breaks in the meeting after heats 4, 8, 12, 16 when a rider is scheduled to have two races on the trot, & between the conclusion of heat 20 and the Grand Final, the 'Men In Black' will take to the track to race their vintage bikes.

There is one change to the original line-up as Claus Vissing is now, unfortunately, unable to take part as his Danish club, Fjelsted, are holding a sponsor's day on the 28th, the day of the Meeting, and Scunthorpe's Ashley Birks will replace Claus in the 16-rider field.

Admission prices:

Adults - £16.00

Concessions - £12.00

Juniors (12-16) - £4.00

Children (11 & under) - Free (when accompanied by a paying adult)

Meeting Race-card - £1.00

Car Park - £1.00 (payable on entry)
