It certainly will as they have lost money in the last four years yet it is my favourite GP. One of the problems with Goteberg is it is not a Speedway city now and they are quite a long way from another speedway club.. The gates have gone down quite alarmingly over the last four years from 18000 in 2009 to half that last year.. I don't think the Swedes ever forgive them when the had to abandon the Gp after a couple of heats as the track was like a ploughed field

Hopefully this GP will be a good one.

I guess horse power will help.

Will this leave Nikki P checking his rear mirrors again...

Will Holder get a good score...

Will Tai's motors make the difference...

How will Darcy get on....

I can't wait to find out...

Roll on Saturday.

Had a quick glance at a couple of weather forecasts and they have changed to no rain tomorrow. There's a basic radar map available here http://www.foreca.se/Sweden/Goteborg?map=radsum

FRIDAY'S practice went well under a clear blue sky although out of the sun it was quite chilly. The track, laid over three weeks ago, had some early issues with it starting to break up a little due to frost still in the ground. The back straight at Ullevi actually gets no sun throughout the day at this time of the year. But as practice wore on, and the surface was churned over, it got better and better.

"It's good," said Chris Holder. "Should be fine tomorrow."

And what a start... Heat 1 includes the two winners this year, Jarek Hampel and Emil Sayfutdinov, last year's victor at Ullevi, Freddie Lindgren, and the championship leader, Tomasz Gollob.

Emil was very subdued yesterday. His father is terminally ill with cancer, aged just 52. Poor lad.

I'm sure i speak for everyone when i say that my heart goes out to him. Everyone has their favourite rider. Mine happens to be Emil. My dad gave me my lifelong love of our sport when he took me at the age of 4 to Coventry. His father must be a good man because he has a great son. Our thoughts are with you Emil. With respect. Alan.

I'm sure Tai Woffinden has a good idea of how Emil is feeling right now, all very sad.

It's a shame but maybe Woffy can help the lad through it as he knows what Emil is going through.

52 is no age :(

Good luck to the lad all the same. I would love to see him top of the podium at the end of the season

Be nice to see them finish 1-2 today. Always good to remember the human being behind the image we see on track. I'll join you all later. Take care. Alan

I wouldn't complain about that. Now Crumpy is not in the GP's Emil is probably the rider I'd most like to see win the title if a Brit can't do it. So a Woffy/Emil 1-2 would be great. I hope Emil can do well tonight for a dad :)

I had to watch my dad dying through cancer last year. He finally passed away last September, so I know how Emil is feeling right now. Probably worse for him as he's so much younger.
