waco
I some how doubt this would be getting of the ground without Lens imput..I also would imagine that in a couple of years the promotion would be looking to go Premier League if possible ,, so in the meantime be happy to have the Rye House connection to get things off the ground and with every ones support that seperate identity could become a reality,,It is no easy job in the present financial climate to get a new speedway venture off the ground It needs backing unconditionally and put aside preduces however small....Kent needs a succesfull Speedway be part of it... Nikko
Further to the above posts Kent Speedway can confirm that we are a new club, and a promotion in our own right, however it would be foolish to set up a new venture without using an experienced promoter to help, and in fact the BSPA demand it. Len has been fantastic, and we couldnt have gotten this far without him, with his knowledge of setting up a new club, track and facilities needed for speedway and also offered Kent Speedway the use of some ex Raiders which was accepted but Kent Speedway is Kent Speedway and must, and will stand on it's own. Len will advise the promotion this season and that will be invaluable. This is NOT the same as when Rye House rode a season at West Row, Mildenhall as Rye House years ago. This is Kent Speedway. PhilK
Whilst the news of speedway returning to Kent is one of the best pieces of news in speedway for a while, I do find it a little strange that the team has not started to be announced yet. I would have thought they would have wanted to keep the initial momentum going, by giving the supporters a name or two for them to look forward to seeing in their first season ?
Nikko
Thanks for the posts. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes including work on the track, the setup of the sound barrier and we are due to start soon on the pits. We have started to get sponsors on board and working with local media to decide how we will create interest in the coming months. As we have stated the first meeting will be the first May Bank Holiday Monday. The club nickname will be announced shortly once the promotion have decided which of the names suggested will be chosen. Once agreed we will launch our permanent website. We may announce individual riders, or the team as a whole but this decision is yet to be made. As with all suggestions on the Internet, either from this forum, Facebook or Twitter I do pass them onto the Promotion for discussion. BigDave1
With no team announcements it's becoming a bit of a worry as one wonders if there will be 7 riders available for Kent to call upon with Buxton needing 4 more, Kings Lynn 3 and Coventry needing just 1. How many can you see progressing from the Anglian Junior League & Midlands Development League to make up the numbers and make Kent a competitive side. What do others think about the possibility of this for Kent's 1-7. 1. Steve Boxall 2. Connor Coles 3. Ben Morley 4. David Mason 5. James Cockle 6. Ryan Terry Daley 7. Robert Lambert Edited January 9, 2013 by BigDave1

Nikko
Thanks for the info Nikko it is good to have someone on the inside who is prepared to post on here and keep us all up to date on what is going on at Kent Speedway ,,,could you please put forward my suggestion of Colts ,as the nickname for the team ,,many thanks ,, Mr D .Rivers My pleasure. If there is information that is ready to be released than we will do so. Obviously I cannot comment on all aspects of what is going on, for example I am not at liberty at the moment to publish the riders but we will keep everyone as up to date as we can. I have passed on your suggestion regarding the team name and thanks for the idea. I will be at the stadium this Saturday and we are hoping to take some photos of the track etc. One of my key goals is to promote Kent Speedway to a whole new generation so we are heavily involved in Facebook and Twitter however we will not forget hardcore speedway fans who use this forum. hackneyrocket
If Kent could start with a 1-7 as per BigDave1's post, that would be very handy. Look forward to seeing the team ride this year.

blueherb777
`Kent Kings`very good. Like the way the Kent Logo has been kept with the Crown. Will bring back memories for any Speedway supporter who used to go to `Crewe Kings`.
