By Kent Speedway | Monday 17th December 2012

Kent Speedway have announced that Neil "Nikko" Day has joined the club as Commercial Manager. Day joins the new club having been involved with British speedway for the last 10 years with the Mildenhall Fen Tigers and Peterborough Panthers, as well as running his own speedway management service for young British riders.

Day moved to the Kent area two years ago and brings a wealth of experience of gaining sponsors and working with local companies and media to promote speedway. The Kent promotion have already set out their commercial requirements and Day will be spending the early part of 2013 meeting with perspective sponsors and local media to promote the new venture.

With the names already mentioned ie ,, Boxall ,,Morley,,Mason,,,Coles . And if we.Can we fit in Cockle ? or someone of his standard ,,hope so ,,and if we can get Lambert ..The million dollar question ?????... and another 3 pointer it would be a top 4 team ..And i feel would pull in the fans which are needed to make this a successfull venture

Very true.

A competitive team is needed to keep fans interest and make this a success for next year and years after. :t:

4 of those look okay Waco, but Mason ? i wouldnt have thought so, young Marc Owen would be the better choice, Cockle is a steady 7 and halfer, Geary or the other 3 pointer who rode with him at Stoke at the back end of 2012, you wouldnt be far away then.

As Parsloes has said Marc may not be ready to return yet ( Head injury ),,be ideal on his current false average,, has loads of potential... Mason has a long connection with Rye..Len seems to like one old hand in the side and if he wants to ride i guess he will be there ,,my only problem with David is his commitment to racing at some away tracks ,,will do a heat leader job at home ..If he is fully committed no problem ,,he is good in the pits with the younger riders ..I see Robert Lambert as the key signing (hopefully it may happen ??),,if this team is going to make an impact this season ...Regarding Steve Boxall again if he is fully commited and on decent machinary he would be the top rider in the league ..would probably come in on a high average though ,,so needs to be worth the gamble,,I will believe it when it happens ?? ..: Ben Morley a very smart gater and the new track should suit his smooth style,,, is looking to make the break through to Premier League sooner than later....Needs sponsors to help him do this,,if you can help in any way contact me on this forum ,,Finally Conor Coles made good progress last year ,and i would expect this to continue,, he has great potential..These riders with one or two good additions could win the league on what i have seen so far. on team building.... Good luck to this new venture in kent...

I misread your post Waco, i was thinking Simon Lambert, i didnt realise it was Robert, but yes Boxhall, Morley, Lambert, Cockle, Coles, Owen, plus A.N Other would be pushing for the League, and hard to beat, I think the NL will be a very Open league this year; IOW will be up there, Mildy will be there or thereabouts, Coventry aint no mugs, Stoke could be anything, The Heathens much will depend on who the final rider is, 3rd Heat leader will be the problem methinks, and our No1 was only 3rd HL last year. Good luck Kent great to see Sittingbourne with a Track at last.

.

Greyhound p. I dont suggest we could fit all those riders in under the points limit at Kent .. But the right combination could work ..I agree the teams being assembled look a lot more evenly balanced this year which should make for an exciting season....

Hope they put out the strongest line up they can, not go down the Raiders route of too many inexperienced riders. You need to keep a good number coming through the turnstiles after the novelty has worn off.

If its going to be a Rye House side wrapped up as a Kent side, riding in Kent its not going to work. We already have a Rye House promotion running it so unless we have a new influx of thought on this its just a Hoddesdon set up riding on an away track. Not ideal for the long term by any stretch of the imagination, I want this to work but its got to be a new set up not the Raiders moving home.

I agree 100% Ian - but to be fair, this Forum is a very insular and specialist thing; and what's debated on here effectively goes no further... To the new public we need to attract in the local area and hopefully across Kent, this WILL be a whole new team, a new place to enjoy a sport many won't have seen live before and the riders will be "their" riders.

To me it will be nice to able 'spin' the riders as local in as many ways as possible, so those from Kent or Sussex and/or who started their racing at Iwade are ideal - but Speedway fans will pick their own idols...

Whoever would've thought a rider who'd spent his whole career riding for northern clubs and without an overly spectacular reputation could become a living legend at a London track...: I speak of Buzz at CL Wimbledon of course.

Proof too that a 'veteran' in a third tier club ain't necessarily a bad thing.

My wish for the new place is crowd pleasers like that, because what's really going to get the crowds in is thrills and excitement.

Bring it on!!!
