I was really disappointed with Motors TV showing of the opening Ice Speedway rounds. Why don't they show all the race instead of showing them in six different parts over 10 seconds.

They possibly want to keep it exciting? Something that a full 59 second heat would not be viewed from tv...

Sorry... a poor reason. Ice speedway is one of the most exciting forms of motorsport and to cut out so much action needlessly is just an editor trying out a new pair of scissors. To be perfectly honest, sooner them not how it at all, and so I'm out.

I thought that too, but I bought last years series as a box set DVD. FIM TV edit the two days into 60 minutes, but then Motors TV then wield the knife on that edit, to cut out what they consider unneccessary to get their 12 minutes of advertising in. Hence the show they put out on Friday.

Having said that, the FIM are pushing the semi final and Final each day as the main event, whilst the heats are just a means of getting to that. FIM TV are briefed to that effect , although they do film the whole event to get the action they want.

The resulting programme is not ideal but at least we are getting professionally recorded action onto TV which is better than nothing.

It is a problem.I mentioned this last year it must have been when i saw their .programme.What you end up with is a strange looking show which frustrates the Ice Speedway fans like us and doesn't attract those potential fans like f-s-p

It wasnt the best of meetings, but a few close calls, falls and exciting challenges and passings made it worth spending the whole day away from home. Joensuu next saturday, thats a whole weekend.

I was stirring a bit with that one, but only little. I dont watch motors tv but have a hard time getting excited even by ISGWC meetings. Was told today that Aakko was trailing other europeans by a straight in Togliatti... I wonder how far ahead the Russians were...

Bottom line is, that a good heat is a good heat in any form of track racing.

Aakko has crashed last wednesday in the pairs and hurt his shoulder. Will go to a magnetic scan this week to see whats wrong and find out if he can continue his season.

Aakko has withdrawn from the Finnish final. It'll be an interesting final now. A fit Aakko would most likely have walked it, but now it's between Järf, Tani, Vilponen and possibly Kastren and Toivola... To finish in the top 6 after 20 heats is not given as I counted 8 riders that should mix it on the track. Thats good news!! It'll be around -3 and cloudy, so no sunny ice racing pics for me in 2013!

The most promising thing about this years final was that we had 27 entries!
