f-s-p
I tried find dates for GSS and the rumoured Red Bull series, any info on these? Swedish Allsvenskan draft was scrapped and is redone in the coming weeks.
iris123
I don't know.I was told when in Pardu that Dresden will be on again, but looking at the website it just has a thank you for 2012 and see you again in 2013.No info on a date.Only thing i have seen to be held in Dresden is the Speedway on Ice series.Would have thought it was easy for you to find out by asking Antti or Jouni if they have been contacted by the promoters for meetings? Saw some photos from Blago a few days ago and the new Samara team outfit looks very professional.Team colours on rider and bike along the lines of Togliatti, although brown maybe isn't the most exciting of colours Edited November 25, 2012 by iris123
WembleyLion
Berlin will be on the weekend 2+3 march http://www.eisspeedway-berlin.de/ I am thinking of taking these meetings in. iris123
Been regularly for a number of years. It is one meeting that is pretty much a must for me.Ice Speedway so near and in a decent stadium in a decent city. Conkers will have to give you tips about flying and travel from the airport...which airport?Big scandal over the last months with the new Berlin airport being delayed not once but twice or more..... Shouldn't need to get tickets in advance.I would watch from the first/second bend.Think it is a great view, good atmosphere there.Stadium is an easy 10 minute walk from Hohenzollerndamm S-Bahn station. Also a nice cafe next to the station which does a nice coffee/breakfast. f-s-p
International training camp at Ylitornio, Finland between 6-9th of December. About 50 people in attendance according to this mornings info and that includes riders and mechanics. Weather looks perfect at the moment with about -10 celsius from today onwards... Conkers
I am thinking of taking these meetings in. Have you or any other forum members been in previous years? Any thoughts or advice would be most appreciated. If you fly into Schönefeld (usually with EasyJet) or Tegel, buy yourself a Berlin Welcome pass from the BVG Stand as you leave the arrivals hall. Once stamped (immediately before you board your first train or as you get on the bus), then you can travel without worrying about having to find change for tickets. Usually available in 2, 3 or 5 day passes. You also get discounts in Restaurants etc when you show it. They give you a book of discounts when you buy it. The Ice Stadium is in Wilmersdorf and the nearest S-Bahn (Train) is Hohenzollerndam, which is across the road from the main entrance, nearest U-Bahn (underground) Heidleberger Platz, which is about a five minute walk. Hotels near the track fill up quickly and are a bit pricey, but you can get hotels a short bus or train ride away at reasonable cost. Meetings usually start at 5pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday, but take some waterproofs as it can be a bit wet. Iris123 is right, 1st & 2nd bend is really good, but avoid the 2nd bend at all costs, you are at the top of a hill some distance from the track. I haven't been to Berlin for the racing for a couple of years now, but it is one of the better events to attend, even if the FIM don't agree (which is why they refused them meetings). Have a good trip if you go.

Have a good trip if you go. Some excellent help here as usual. Just to expand a little and say that 3 years ago we stayed in a hotel in the old East with no railway of any sort walkable from it. Bus services were brilliant though and travel via bus,U and S bahns took no more than 30 minutes to the track and there were railworks diverting trains at the time. I'd go for the cheap hotel option wherever you can find it and the nightlife is also never that far away either. Some excellent micro breweries around Alexanderplatz and Friedrichstrasse stations (apologies for spelling) to sort out all food and drink issues after the racing. Pedant moment; I think you actually mean the 3rd / 4th bends with the view down the hill and not 2nd. You are actually outside the stadium fence there. We used to stand on the straight at the exit from the 4th bend which had a very good view. It now seems to be more popular and crowded, no doubt owing to the viewing, and on our last visit the slopes at the rear started subsiding onto the terrace owing to people standing under trees to keep dry. A lot of falling by fans, taking others with them so not the safest of areas. Other than my ex mother in law being from Berlin there is nothing else regarding attending ice spedway here to moan about. Love everything about the place. iris123
Yes i agree,i think Conkers means the 3rd/4th bend. Can't understand why apart from desperately needing to save some euros, why anyone would watch the meeting from there, although i do remember our old Zielona Gora correspondent "Tommy" posted some photos of his view at one meeting. In the old days you used to get better views of top football matches for free.At the Old Den for instance...... ok maybe there weren't that many "top" games involving Millwall Just read today that the new Berlin airport is due to open next October!!!! Just one and a half years late and €250 million over budget Edited November 29, 2012 by iris123
Conkers
Yes I did mean 3rd/4th turns, and it is so far from the track, you have to ask why they have tickets for it.

This date probably seals the Finnish final date as well. Heard that the first Allsvenskan draft had two meetings for this weekend with Team Finland. Cant see them running them now since Sweden own #1 meeting is on the same date. EDIT: Any news about the GSS or RB series? uk_martin
... Hotels near the track fill up quickly and are a bit pricey, but you can get hotels a short bus or train ride away at reasonable cost... If you don't intend "living in" your hotel, you won't find much cheaper than the EasyHotel - €35 per night. Think of it as a ships cabin for the night, clean, warm, dry, quiet, etc, but not big enough for an afters party. Berlin's public transport system will ensure that wherever you stay, you'll find your way to the stadium.
