Mildenhall 2013

Nothing personal but is signing a 38 year old what the NL is all about ,I don't think so.

With a team of 30-plus riders, no. With a young, inexperienced and developing side, absolutely yes. Excellent team man, always ready to help out and pass on advice and also particularly good with the fans. I suspect Mildenhall supporters knew that already. Really good to see him back in the sport.

With the Promotion that run Mildenhall surely there is plenty of advice on hand .

When dudley met mildenhall at the end of the season the fans of both teams just wanted their team to win . They didnt pay their money to watch riders training to be better riders. They want their heroes .The national league is by its nature a stepping stone for riders and does a good job but you cant dish up a training league and expect people to pay to watch it. Speedway at all levels is about winning

I have been trying to tell people this for years now, that the average man on the terrace wants value for money, and I have been castigated on here by "senior" posters who tell me I have no idea what I am talking about, so to hear this from a man who has been involved with speedway at the sharp end for so long is very reassuring. thank you.

FROM THE OFFICIAL MILDENHALL WEBSITE -

Danny Halsey has been named as the 2013 Mildenhall Fen Tigers' captain.

The 24-year-old takes over from Lewis Blackbird who has moved to Dudley. Fans' favourite Halsey, who played a major part in the club's Grand Slam success last year, is now also the only rider who has ridden for the club since the current promotion launched the 'new era' of speedway at West Row at the start of 2011.

"When we sat down to decide who was going to take over from Lewis as skipper, Danny's name quickly moved to the top of the list and we all agreed that he was the man to lead the team this season," said Mildenhall Chairman Kevin Jolly. "He has been a model professional since he joined Mildenhall and we are sure he will prove to be a great captain. We also hope it'll give him the confidence to add some points on to his own average. When we told him we wanted him to be skipper he accepted straight away and to say he is up for the job would be a big understatement. He can't wait to get started and we know he'll be a massive help to the young lads in particular."

The promotion have also confirmed that an Official Supporters' Club is being formed again in time for the 2013 season. Jolly explained, "We had a very positive meeting with Paul and Shantel Jenkins who will run things for us. They've got some exciting ideas for the Supporters' Club events and will be putting together a committee to help organise things. It's great that fans will have the chance to hold their own events again."

Meanwhile the club have also confirmed the date of this year's 'Meet the Riders' night. It will take place in the Fenman Bar at West Row on Saturday 23rd February. Track staff should arrive at 6.30pm with the evening's main events for supporters starting at 7.30pm. All the 2013 team are expected to attend along with the Fen Tigers' promotion and management team. Entry is free.

Has anyone else considered the possibility of who we will have in our team, IF Nathan Stoneman isnt fit? As i understand it he hasn't got back on a bike yet (might be wrong on that one) and if so, I can't see how he will be in any position to ride competively early April?

You can't name an injured rider in your team so one assumes he's going to be ready to race in a couple of months (ish).

Great to see Armo back in speedway. He'll get to good reception at Monmore 'Wood'. :t:

Solid team they've put together again. Should be second to IOW is my gut feeling.

Hope the above 2 posters don't mind if I make a slight correction.

The Kent Kings are a brand new club and are not Rye House.

Appreciate Len is our co-promoter and we have asked John to manage the team but the clubs promoter is Roger Cearns and the club are a completely separate entity to Rye House.

Cheers

Nikko

PS - looking forward to seeing loads of old friends when we visit West Row
