builderbob
and stoke have never messed a rider round, i think all teams have messed riders about
Neil H
From what I gather, Stoke have contacted Emerson and talked him into riding. Hardly the rider messing the club about, the lad said he couldn't commit to riding but things have changed and the Stoke management wanted him enough to go back to him again. Craftman
Firstly he's named in the 7 ( must have been happy at that point ), then he changes his mind . To me that's messing the club around I'm afraid
TMW
Obviously i was up for the job. it took me 2 rides to get a team place where it takes most riders years. And by the way i didnt quit speedway to concentrate on motocross so youve got that wrong aswell. Everyones jumping to conclusions i see Welcome to thew world of speedway a paralell universe in anyone's book
secsy1
Both rider and management here now have points to prove. 2 rides to get a team place, well good luck in the real world and on those results in the dream world will be world champion after dozen meetings. Management have to be comended on their persistance, they got a World Champion in their eyes. Hope the happy marriage bears fruit and both have a great season. Everyones jumping to conclusions i see Take a look at the press release on Stoke website for the 11th January. What conclusions were people supposed to 'jump to'? With your attitude, you and Stoke speedway should go well together...Good luck for the season... BTW, being picked for a team spot by Stoke doesn't mean you are up to it. Look at the illustrious names down the years...Frank Facher, Jerry Thelaus, Klaus Jacobsen...etc etc Edited January 22, 2013 by horneymikh

Swift Saint
We wanted Emmerson Jones becuase he has great potential and he is a very well respected young man with an outstanding approach to his sports activities. I know for certain that he was hounded by other teams to sign for them but I wont say which ones that would not be appropriate. We are delighted he has re-thought his plans and welcome him back. Good God when I was his age I nearly joined the French Foreign Legion. Some would say pity I didnt. Malcolm Vasey
vog
So, he's back. Tbf, even after this "will he/won't he", we still can't form an opinion on his ability as 95% of us haven't seen him ride! All that I can say is that, should he come in and do well, all of this will soon be forgotten. So long as his head is in speedway, and he gives his all for Stoke, that's all I can ask!

horneymikh
I note Mick you don't then go onto to use the legends that have graced Stoke : Tom Owen, Alan Mogridge, Les Collins, Ian Gledhill, Paul Pickering and Jan Staechmann to name a few Didn't mention them Derek as they have nothing to do with the point I was making...Alls I was saying was being signed by Stoke, or for any team for that matter, doesn't mean you are 'up to it'. Anyways, how many of the riders you mention were signed by the current promotion at Stoke, and how many of them were starting out in their careers and needed to prove they were 'up to it'? Halifaxtiger
yep I agree , but theres not one word of it that I don't believe to be the truth , the last few pages of this thread have reminded me why I stopped posting On the BSF and lost interest in speedway as well . so I think I'll take another sabbatical , this time for the rest of my life , goodbye and good riddance Pity that. Your serious, intelligent, objective and erudite posts will be greatly missed.
