PHILIPRISING
THE use of the beloved Joker will not be allowed in the final four heats of SWC meetings next year. Tactical substitutes will be allowed. Team managers will have a free choice of which riders they want to use in each of the final four heats. salty
Good news about the joker not being used in the last 4. Not so sure about the free choice thingy, any ideas how will that be administered to ensure all is above board? PHILIPRISING
QUITE easy I believe .. each team manager will nominate one of his riders for each of the final heats. How they scored in the preceding heats will be irrelevant. Could make for some interesting line-ups and tactics.
racers and royals
Selections put into sealed envelope hopefully
mrss
how are the picks chosen, in what order? or is it just Rider A in heat 2 in a sort of random sense?
salty
Have to be in sealed envelopes. As you say there will be a lot of second guessing as TM's try and get favourable match up's.
PHILIPRISING
I HONESTLY don't know the exact procedure yet. Your suggestion would be the easiest and most sensible but that's not always the way these things work! how are the picks chosen, in what order? or is it just Rider A in heat 2 in a sort of random sense? I imagine each manager will list his four names for Heat 17, 18, 19 and 20 without any reference to what the others are doing
racers and royals
If they keep the same race format the start positions are pre-decided.

manchesterpaul
Got a mental blank right now on something i should know as a matter of course. Isn't it the case that at the moment the format allows for each rider to meet every other rider once as in the standard individual formats?. Managers nominating the last four heats will totally trash the previous fair way of doing things. Regarding who nominates riders first they may well let the fourth team decide first and so on. Cue an advertisement break as with the SGP series when they work out who is in the top eight lol.

HenryW
With the move to four man teams this year every rider met each other once by heat sixteen. The last four races were extras just done by scoring order this year. Edit - and my slow typing on the phone saw this become a duplicate answer Edited October 25, 2012 by HenryW

manchesterpaul
Duhhhhh! of course i knew that regarding 16 heats everyone meets everyone else lol. Don't know why it didn't sink in at the time of posting. To be honest the first 16 heats 'all meeting all' is great, sometimes tradition is good. Then i guess that this year's change to have the 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st top scorer races was quite a nice touch too. Don't know if it really needs tweaking to nominated line-ups though. Above all the sickest thing is the continuation of the Joker. Never has anything been so aptly named and without a doubt it's well worse in the sheer abonimation stakes than Batman's one! When I saw the Title of this Thread - I thought they were going to scrap the damned thing altogether. How much longer are they going to go on contriving results. Sport - I don't think so. A GAME like 'It's a Knockout' is more like.
Bavarian
When I saw the title to this thread `SWC JOKER` I thought it was about the Final being held in Prague ? Or rather about the Czech Republic team being seeded into the SWC Final, because that really is the biggest joke! No idea how the organiseres BSI/IMG/FIM reason this, it is unsportingly and should never happen. The home team may be seeded to the race-off, I could accept this, and if they are good enough they could qualify for the final from there. If not, the final will at least have the four best teams and that's how it should be. Don't tell me the final would be a financial disaster without the home team. What will the race-off be without the home team ! That meetign is held at the same track.
A ORLOV
Agree Bavarian, the home team should only be seeded into the race off. This would get the local crowd attending and from this meeting the top two on merit go through.
