screm
Disappointed that the Berwick Promotion felt it wasnt prudent to put their answers to the questions every other promotion have given in this weeks Speedway Star Survival Special,it wouldve been very interesting to see their ideas on the way forward. They have won much praise from other clubs supporters about how forward thinking they are Im sure their views wouldve been welcomed.

I spent fair bit time reading the comments. I honestly felt no different after reading them. They answered nothing with most of them not giving any concrete way forward and most of answers mirrored each track comments. Think Berwick did us all a favour by not boring us more. Catch Me If You Can
I have to admit I am surprised by that omission. Hopefully we will get an explanation. Just looked at Star for this week and have to add nice to have seen Berwick in it but have you read the pages?? What a waste of time and space, tells nothing we did not know already, no fixes there then, just bad weather and poor crowds. In the words of Clive Dunn 'We're doomed'

Too many promoters with their heads buried in the sand (or possibly elsewhere).

Too many promoters with their heads buried in the sand (or possibly elsewhere). We will have to wait and see after their meeting but must admit it doesn.t look to promising .To be fair I don't think there is a easy answer to the general problems but you would hope they come up with some solutions that will put the sport back on track. Robinh88
I have to say that what makes a meeting less enjoyable for me is when one or more of the regulars that I stand with can't make it. Most of all I look forward to the banter with them. Something that is really worrying is a youngster I know has started getting into comments about the track, which has obviously rubbed-off on them. Imagine them going back to their mates and saying, the track was crap. Imagine someone talking about a football pitch, "pitch was really good tonight". They'd be ridiculed no end. Poor lad Scott for having an opinion, shame on the lad Sorry Scotty, I'll do whatever you say, If I can have a prawn sandwhich.....
msc1874
There are too many promoters with their own selfish interests at heart. I think their are certain elite league promoters who love that sky cheque hitting their bank accounts each year, and will do anything to preserve that way of life, not enough of that money, publicity or tv coverage filter down. The conferences never make the changes the fans want. We don't do enough to sell our sport to the next generation and I feel sorry for promoters, it's a thankless job. You can't see it as a business to make money from, it's an expensive sideline. We need a governing body independent from promoters making the rules. Too many promoters are selfish and unrealistic!

Fromafar
As a long term fan what I can't understand is when certain successful Teams in PL in recent seasons report huge losses in last few seasons there seems to be no structure change or long term plan to make any radical changes to help the sport from one season to another and in Edinburghs case have had to come back from the brink mainly due to fan generosity please tell me what will be done to prevent them making a huge loss next season, according to my reading in SS a hot summer is what they are hoping for to revive the sport !!! Sorry if slightiy off topic but Berwick could still be in the same boat next year (if we run) Edited November 16, 2012 by Fromafar

Sorry if slightiy off topic but Berwick could still be in the same boat next year (if we run) If the solution being put forward is to hope for a hot summer, then that is quite ludicrous! The powers that be really need to think about what they do with the sport. It looks as if Berwick's decision to abstain from passing comment before the BSPA meeting is very, very wise. Oppotunity missed I feel,Berwick have won praise from supporters from other clubs as a forward thinking promotion, what a chance they had to put those views over, and anyway it wouldve been nice to see their ideas for a way foward.Every other promotion bothered so why not Berwick.

It seems that you and me are in the minority in thinking this way, I think it was very poor form that they didn't want their views published , and that think their excuse was equally poor Edited November 17, 2012 by millen
