Apologies Rob, I remembered it differently. As for whether the puddle affected the riders off gate three I'd ask Vissing who made it quite clear after the first semi what he thought of the situation. by riding up to the puddle, doing a 180 degree turn and looking up at the ref's box.

I take it you were involved in the meeting since the Ben fund were present. Sometimes you see things differently when you're an observer than in the middle of things. I believe it had a serious effect based on a few years of watching riders make starts. We'll have to agree to differ. It was a shame because the meeting had run very impressively like clockwork up to that point. I suppose only a rider can give an authoritative answer

Thank goodness I have the right to an unbiased and honest opinion now that I keep myself firmly on the spectators' side of the fence - tonight by the home straight fence just in front of the tapes level with the puddle. I think I had a reasonable view, don't you?

Pleased someone else saw the ridiculous attempt of Somerset making sure they won at all costs !!!! Decided to water the track just before the Semi,s and drown gate 3 , just so happens they didn't have that gate !! Vissing was right to feel aggrieved , strange how Lawson had same gate in second semi and ran a last too.

Well never thought I would have ever been shouting for Josh Auty to win anything , haha, takes all sorts ;-)

Accidents happen, doyle went off 3 in the final and got a bad gate but still managed to get round. Lawson wasn't even last out of the gate in the other semi. The plan was always going to be to block out vissing.

Seven years we have waited for a pairs victory and it is amazing.

Oh I sympathise hugely with the Comets - I was really impressed with Lawson and Bach's teamwork but I certainly wasn't suggesting it was deliberate.

Well you are a Somerset fan....

Doyle is a top quality rider and was on his own track - you'd expect him to be able to pick off the opposition which he did superbly.

Somerset v Workington would have made a superb final. As it was Scunthorpe put up a great fight.

I said it was a disappointment, nothing more. What these postings do show is that supporters see whatever favours the team they support.

I'm just annoyed by the post saying the water was deliberate. Makes somerset sound like cheaters, not saying he meant it like that but one thing somerset are not is cheaters.

Just out of curiosity then, did the riders agree to the track being watered just before the semi finals or not? Seems a bit strange that if the track was proving to be "good" for them when it was dry, why agree to watering with only 3 races left and, which has been proved to some extent, change the outcome of the meeting, was there a track issue with dust last night?

Still, its done now and the Rebels got the result, well done to them and commiserations to Scunny, a good effort by all accounts!!

Was there a run off for third place in this event or does that not happen anymore just a tie between Comets/E,boro??

Do behave yourself..............I can't see the Rebels name on the trophy anytime in the previous 7 years !!

Wonder what you had to write about then, you must have been really bored waiting to write that comment all those years

2005 and 2006 "home" team won - Glasgow Tigers.

Chuffed Somerset won it a great track, for me a breath of fresh air would i love them to be in the EL a big yes.More and likely a one big league could be in place so they would be a big flag bearer, a great racing track progressive could it be a British Final venue it should be!

So, after umpteen years of trying to win it at their own track.... Marvellous!!

I know you don't like to go on about it, but remind us again why you are so anti-Somerset??

Really?? Vissing had already ran last in heats 2 and 20 - don't think you can blame a dodgy gate for him finishing behind Doyley and Josh in the semi. As for the Somerset win-at-all-costs plan, how does the choosing 1 and 3 in the final fit in??

Judging by your previous, it would have been worth the entrance money alone to hear you, TaylorJ, cheering for the AntiChrist!!!! :o:D

Apologies for my poor calculation George, its 7 years if you include this season, so my post should have read 6 years (2007 to 2012 inclusive), but you knew exactly what I meant :P

Still pleased with my teams efforts rene and rich done well and as per norm we were backed by plenty of noisy comets fans. Nice to see some friendly faces in the crowd too. On the whole a good meeting and good weather:-)

Nothing personal, I'm anti most teams,

Making my return to the OTA next Friday, so if the big bumpkin who threatened to "take me out into the car park and do me over" is reading this (or getting someone who can read to do it for him) I'm more than ready. This time he can leave his little boy at home, so he won't make a arse of himself in front of his son this time.

Sincerely hope you have a more pleasant experience on your return - spoilt only by the pasting the Rockets are likely to take!

I'll have the other half with me this time, so I'll have to watch myself. If I had any money left after Cardiff I'd bang it all on a huge home win.

Getting hammered away isn't a problem, I'm used to it. Having the chance of a result, then losing it at the end is far worse.

Well done Somerset on a deserved win. The Rebels were the best Pair on the night, and the way they controlled the semi and the final was in the tradition of good Pairs racing. Cookie was excellent all night, as was Screeny after running a last in the first heat. I like the way some of the posters are here are going on about possible dubious goings on at gate 3, and then Doyley pop`s out last in the final and then promptly passes both Scorpions to bring home the bacon. Not much quality Pairs riding there from Scunny, but they done great to get to the final. Compare that to the semi, when Cookie blasted out of the gate in front, and Doyley and Josh just kept an eye on Vissing and kept him at the back, ex rider Somerset rider Vissing who knows a thing or two about the OTA himself.

As usual at the OTA bl**dy cold, but a good crowd all in good form.Onwards and upwards for the Rebels with Redcar next up on thursday so good luck to them in that one. Finally as always , great to see Ian, Dave, Mark Di and all my other mates down there, missed you Naj but saw you getting on the coach Saturday and thought I might see you later, never mind I`ll see you at the away match at Rye maybe.

First of all well done Somerset on there win and well done Somerset speedway on a well run meeting I only get to make one visit per season to the Oak tree arena on the Cardiff GP weekend and I really look forward to my visit each season it's a top notch race track one of the best in the UK without doubt no trick track racing here proper speedway track as they should be along with my local club Kings Lynn Peterborough and Scunthorpe ,Somerset speedway rates in my top 4 in UK -what a shame what was on offer as a track 24 hours later ? To have had the GP on a track like the Oak tree Arena that would be so thing special ,I for one will be back next season for the Pairs
