Well if perry cant ride will have to be a 3 pointer cause cant av two r/r can they. Iow still have meeting left so dont think could use ellis anyway! Still gona be tough for us heathens

Set up for a good meeting, hope Tom is O.K.

Should be a good turnout from both sets of supporters, fancy this one to run all the way to the end - but with TR's think Dudley could edge it, although Mildy never seem to know when they are beaten.

Well done to both Teams in extremely difficult conditions, wet & slippy Track, the Grand Final is set up for a tight 2nd leg, The Tigers threw points away for fun in the early Heats, with falls by Garrity & Bates when leading comfortably, then The Heathens were hit hard with the loss of Tom Perry with a suspected Broken Scaphoid, however Darryl Ritchings stepped up to the plate with 14 points from 7 rides, and Joe Jacobs led The Tigers resistance with 13 points, Will it be enough ?? it could well be, and i would say, we are slight favourites at even money, Mildenhall 5/4 against, but with Garrity, Nielsen,Jacobs, supported by Halsey and Bates, this Title is still there for the taking.

2nd Half still to come.

Just stopped at a service station on the way.We chucked so many points away by over riding. The ref was shocking on a couple of occasions.Good to see a good number from Mildenhall there tonight.

Wasn't impressed with the idiot in a super dry jacket in front of us who cheered like anything when Bates went flying in heat 2.Did notice he shut up when Perry went into the fence and unfortunately got injured.

Other than that it was a decent atmosphere with no trouble.Fair play for getting through to heat 12 in the koc.Considering the track was getting very tricky.Looking foward to tomorrow :)

As always, GP, very fair comment.

Terrific performance from Dudley to go into tonight's tie 14 points up after losing Perry so early on, all credit to them. Having said that, Mildenhall threw away too many points - Garrity, Halsey & Bates all losing scoring positions unnecessarily (and even taken into account the wet track).

Jacobs held Mildenhall together with some very consistent riding (in my experience, not for the first time away from home) and also deserves a deal of credit. He's had easily his best season this year, and might be worth a punt for a PL club in 2013.

If the second leg were at West Row, Mildenhall would be odds on. As it is at King's Lynn, who knows but it is set up very nicely for a cracking meeting.

Would echo Adzmft's comments regarding the behaviour of certain Dudley fans - it seems that punching the air with delight when an opposition rider falls is more common place in the Midlands - and also about a very poor refereeing display. From where I was standing, Dudley can thank Mr Reeve at least in part for the lead they have.

I think you're always going to get a few who do that anywhere. I don't go for it myself, but in fairness I don't recall any of the falls looking anything but relatively harmless apart, of course, from the one where Perry and Halsey got hooked up and ploughed into the fence and no-one cheered that. You might say it was because a Dudley rider was involved!

I would agree that the referee didn't have his finest hour, with riders forced to pick their path around the fallen, but the only decision from recollection that might have affected the scoreline was the one to award heat three when Greenwood and Halsey were still hotly disputing second place. Oh, and Bates might have got a touch on the way to the fence and disqualification at the start of heat nine. On another day that might have been all four back.

Anyway, all set up for a thriller tonight. Congratulations to Mildenhall on their cup success and well done to their travelling fans for some hearty support.

Edit: I wonder if Bates might be a key figure tonight. Those points he got in the cup match, after a torrid first meeting littered with falls, will surely have done a lot for his confidence.

I think this cheering when riders come off has been blown out of all proportion. I myself have felt a little boosted when an opposition rider has fallen at Leicester not because he has fallen it is almost an automatic reaction but clearly not if serious injury is suspected and immediatley apparent but because the Lions will be handed a point, and as we know points mean prizes and the point could be a crucial one, For the same reason It is inneviatble that the fallen rider's fans will feel agreaved specially if the rider is in the lead or second. I wouldn't make too much of it I think it is just part of the sport. Like staying down and all the other foibles of the sport.!!!!!!!

On serious falls and crashes I have only ever heard a collective gasp around the stadium. As we know a serious crash can lead to the rider going out and winning the rerun and a rider that just appears to slide off can be seriously injured so the seriousness of the fall is always going to be difficult to gauge.

Yes there were a couple of things i missed off earlier, The 1st when there were riders & bikes lying on the track at the 1st & 2nd bends, the 2 remaining riders came round and the red lights were not put on, and it was only by LUCK no one else was hit and injured, and also as fourenteen pointed out Halsey had a little nudge in Heat 9, not Mr Reeves finest night, yes some cheered when riders fell, but were also applauded when they got up and cleared the Track, which happened every time except once, the rider got up and made no attempt to clear the Track and was roundly and rightly booed.

Much will depend on what points the reserves score tonight, Tom Perry will be out, and if Adam Ellis can be persuaded thats if he is eligible to ride tonight, no other unattached rider will come any where near to Perrys points scoring. my assesment of the 2nd leg is if Ellis can cover The Heathens will win, if he cant, then it may well be a last Heat decider.

Can't see how Ellis can be eligible, as you said last night IOW still have 1 meeting to ride and is therefore attached to another club. As a speedway fan wouldn't you prefer a last heat decider?

How anybody can say tonight's return leg is finely balanced to me absolutely beggars belief !

At West Row , the Tigers home track advantage would have been a big one but at Lynn they have none whatsoever !

It's ultimately an away match for both teams and the outcome will obviously depend on who adapts better .

Although I'm hoping for a Mildenhall win , to overcome this size of deficit will be nigh on impossible .

Not even remotely finely balanced is my opinion !

Have you seen the teams! Dudley have no Bekker and No Perry, a 3 point novice replacing Perry who lets be honest is going to struggle to even pick up a point - Finely balanced i would say is a perfect description.

its all about opinions, but mine differs greatly to yours. Yes a neutral Track, but cancelled out now by the loss of Tom Perry, effectively we now have 4 reserves, RR and 2 Heat leaders  , can we hold you ? very possibly, what we cant afford is the loss of another rider tonight.

Ah yes but the big big difference last night was at reserve , in Ritchings you have one that scored very well and Mildenhall didn't ! Had the return been at West Row I'm sure Josh Bates would have come good tonight . Now I'm not so sure !

As you said it's all about opinions and in mine I can only see one outcome for the overall result !

I'm gutted I can't now go as that extra 20+ miles to Lynn combined with work means I won't have time to get there .

I obviously hope the Tigers can overcome the deficit but I can't see it happening .

Bates threw it away through his own stupidity trying too hard. 6 rides zero points He was in points scoring positions and at times completely out of control.
