I must admit to being very optimistic about the season ahead. Ultimately the trophies will end up wherever they end up but I feel the team is packed with young, entertaining riders.... and on a week to week basis have the potential to serve up some cracking racing at Armadale.

You have a real cracking team there. Don't know about the cracking racing though. More like walk over heavy wins. Its a team I would like to watch at away fixtures. We at Glasgow, on the other hand might see some cracking racing as we try to keep up with the opposition. (Sorry, can't find smileys on this machine)

I hope both tracks offer up some great racing.

Last year when the likes of Cookie missed the gate, there were few greater spectacles than seeing him chase and ultimately pass his opponent. Likewise Wee Joe (less of a trapper than Cookie) but showed some stunning skill whilst passing the opposition last season around The Dale. Theo and Derek were also involved in some of the races of the season, Derek got my vote with his race against Alex Davies. Marcel had his moments last year but mostly when he trapped granted. If you throw the young man Max Fricke into the equation well .... cracking racing should be on the cards on a tremendously prepared track.

Here's hoping we all get drier weather this season to allow the riders to show their undoubted talents.

And you have every right to be optimistic a very good looking team assembled on paper credit to your promotion in getting that septet together I was hoping we could have maybe got Sam Master's at Glasgow he looked superb at Ashfield whilst guesting for us a real coup in that signing.

Indeed, especially considering the gloom that surrounded the club's future just a few short months ago. It's a credit to the promotion to shrug that off (with a little help) and piece together such a potentially exciting team.

It has the look of being solid at home and also a handful away from home.

And so you should be a great looking team and should produce some very entertaining nights. Just hope the crowds do turn up after the financial backing so many have made. Scottish speedway needs a shot in the arm!

The most pleasing things about it are : it's a young team, with great passing ability (although I've not seen Sam do that yet in Blue and Gold colours yet) and that they can all improve their averages.

Max fricke Aussie under 21 champion!!! Great achievement for him considering this is his fir year on a 500cc and only being 16.

It certainly answers any remaining doubters as to whether he is good enough to qualify for a visa.

I will look forward to his visit to Foxhall with great interest.

So the starting gate is supposedly getting moved back to where it was when we first moved to Armadale personally I think it should stay where it is as it's good viewing for fans to see all the riders coming into bends 1 and 2 all bunched up and you also get the best view of it from the hospitality boxes.

Would like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

Agree 100%. I'm sure there's a good reason for the move. However, if it's to improve spectator viewing I prefer the first bend bunching option to start/finish. First bend excitement every race, close finishes less so.

If the starting gate is moved back to the stadium side of the track I would greatly welcome it.

The start finish line is where the results are decided and with the action starting in front of the bulk of the crowd it should help boost the atmosphere again.

I normally stand on the current 1/2 turn and to be honest I sometimes struggle to see the first bend action so personally I don't think I'll be a great loss in moving the first turn to the other end of the stadium, and in fact it may actually help my viewing.

I also think the action (home straight) is moving closer to hospitality suites.

All good in my book. Lots of my friends have also commented over the years that they'd welcome this very change.

On the other hand, the riders are going to have a bigger run to fill the referees in.

If this is true there is obviously agood reason for it but IMO it would be a bad move as most of the fans are on the present 1st/ 2nd bend while nobody stands on the 3rd /4th bend as you cannot see any racing due to the height of the safety fence ,also I think the present 3rd/4th bend is a bit tight for 4 riders at the start of a race. Could be that with the houses right behind the pits have complained about the noise, while the original position, despite being moved for the same reasons, is much further away, and there is only the roadway out which allows the noise to travel to those houses.

When the gate was moved, was it not because the officials' box wasn't in line with the tapes? Was there not a regulation brought in to say referee had to be directly in line?

If this is true (and it is only on here I've seen it) then will a new referees' box now have to be installed on the roof of the shed?
