Brooksy
Firstly, hearty congratulations to Scunthorpe on a well-deserved victory over two closely fought legs. It could obviously have gone either way right to the end, which is how it should be! Secondly, a huge thank you to all the Rebels riders and management team for making this the most thrilling and exciting year to be a Rebels fan so far, despite the weather. Shame we couldn't quite pull off the big one, but so close. Hopefully we can go one better next year. Finally, on the point of choice of guests, etc, surely it is just human nature to ponder the if only's and maybe's when your team has been beaten by such a small margin? Whilst one or two posts may have been OTT (adam74), most are simply asking the questions many want to know the answers to, such as was Hall the best guest available for Monday's meeting, and why was he chosen for heat 15? Not unreasonable questions surely?
The Blindman
It is good to see that all the riders last night were prepared to give it their all on a track which had taken such a battering from the elements, and with that in mind it shows what a marvellous job the Scunthorpe track staff did at getting the track into a race able condition, well done to them. Both teams should be proud of what they have achieved this season, I am just sorry that I have not made it to the OTA this year Just a quick question, Looking on twitter I see some rather dark comments aimed at Somerset from Sam Masters and Dakota North and can to a certain extent understand their frustrations at the team but what I don't understand is the comment Hate Somerset coming from Darcy Ward!!!, all I can think is that it was a Somerset fan that smacked him around the head as he has no other reason to say such a thing and was glad to take a booking for them against Swindon at the start of the season. Halifaxtiger
If Statman doesn't know, then no one does..........by replying in that way you have just proved my point about posting from a position where you don't have knowledge of the situation, but choose to post regardless of the facts. From your posts on here, I thought you were better than that, but what do I know? To be fair, I have no idea who Statman is. If he's connected to the promotion, then he will know better than I. Unless your knowledge of the situation is better than mine ignorance hasn't stopped you posting, has it ? I would say that about 95% of the posts on this forum are based on at best partial information and that most do so not 'regardless' of the facts but because they don't actually know all of them. That is all that fans are privy to (in many cases, absolutely correctly) and inevitably they indulge in speculation and guesswork. Unless those opinions are absolutely ridiculous given the facts to hand, I see absolutely no reason why they might not do so. Those are precisely the questions that I have raised and of course its not unreasonable. My view was that Hall's inclusion in Heat 15 was an understandable one - it certainly wasn't stupid - and backed that up by pointing to the score chart. I then suggested that there were a hatful of riders all with higher averages than him who might have been available and supported that by reference to the greensheets . Never deny that both points are my opinion and based upon speculation, but I do not accept that they are unreasonable points to make. Dont think it ws about loosing his team place to be honest,im sure he said something on the MIC at scunny about non release of his work permit so he could sign for a PL team,or something like that, something about his sponsors also,i cant remember what though
IronScorpion
If memory serves me correct, when Somerset rode at the EWR late August, Howe had tried to come back from his injuries which proved unsuccessful & we were looking into getting Masters to replace Howe or continue using r/r. Debbie Hancock was "intervewed" by Rob on the centregreen near the pits & the issue of the work visa was brought into question. Apparantly, Somerset refused to allow Masters to ride for a rival club that could jepardise their chances of success on the work permit. He would have had to re-apply for a new permit, hence him only being allowed to take guest appearances.

Not called for i know, and they shouldn't put that sort of thing on Twiitter for all to see. Garry and Bish did what was right for the club at the time, they want to win the League for the club. Riders get the chop from clubs all the time, its nothing new. Sam is big enough and ugly enough to get over it and move on, he's a talented rider who will get snapped up by a PL club tomorrow. Also, i think you are very much Guessing about Darcys attacker.

Cliffeboy
What an absolute belter of a final meeting, well done to both teams for serving up a match that will be talked about for years to come. It`s also nice to see two of the newer teams in the Prem contesting the final.Somerset have been a great team to follow this year and have been around the top of the table all season despite injuries to all the riders at some stage, great effort all round.I find it a bit odd that people start second guessing decisions made at the match by a management that have got it so right all year. The big talking point has been the Sam Masters thing,I think he will look back in years to come and think maybe he could have conducted himself in a better more adult and professional way.I stuck up for him big time last season over his twitter misdemeanor, citing his youthfulness and maybe getting a bit in front of himself having just won the PLRC.Judging from his most recent comments on Twitter I may have got him pegged wrong......a pity.Somebody needs to take that "boy" in hand and explain to him about "not burning your bridges"He has not had the best of seasons at Somerset this year, but he was always a favourite of the crowd. I believe Gary May when he said it was one of the hardest decisions he had to make releasing Sam,but no one rider is bigger than the club, and the management was proved right judging by the success of the team.I stated in an earlier post that I would love to have Sam back next year, maybe that might not happen now, a shame for both club and him.. I wish him good luck in Argentina where he will get more experience, and also with whoever he rides for next season. ps I cannot believe there is someone on here who does not know who Statman is........... bellevueace
Congratulations to Scunthorpe on becoming champions, comiserations to Somerset for being so close. With Howe and Doyle both injured that sort of cancelled each other out, looking at the Rebels guest in Hall didnt think it was the best choice so they did well to get so close. R/R didnt get near to what a fit Howe would have scored, overall two equally matched sides going down to the wire. As for Darcey Ward tweeting about Somerset i think he has problems and if hes not careful it could stop him fulfilling his potential, he wont be the first naturally talented sportsman to go off the rails and fail to deliver. It has effected him mentally & that showed with his riding, but he never gave up on himself & is getting through it. Sam is moving on & will get over it, may take a bit if time, he is only young and a long way from home, support was minimal.
oldtimer
The rebels fans who did attend the meeting were a credit to your club, after the dissapointment on Sunday thats real commitment to travel back up..noisy bunch too which all added to a great atmosphere. Both clubs should be very proud of the way last nights meeting played out...shame someone had to lose in the end,but as a long time Scunthorpe fan im very happy right now! To those who are knocking the use of Hally in ht 15...he absolutely rode his socks off in that race and was so close...no one rides the track better in those situations so i can understand Someset giving him a go Can't blame Somerset management for not booking someone with a higher average than Hall, with such short notice they were lucky to get anyone. A question, if Hall blew two engines, was he on his own equipment in heat 15, I have never seen more than two bikes in the pits for each rider? Hall may have rode his socks off but I'm sure you are not saying Alex or Claus would not have done the same. One final point, in the last race of the season, when the championship was to be decided, it would have been nice, win or lose, to have had two Rebels in heat 15 who after all got us there in the first place.
