well lets hope a certain DD this year thinks before he speaks his slagging off of 2 or 3 leicester riders to us the general public/fans was out of order and telling me and my partner he was going to try and get one of them sacked was a disgusting thing to say from a would be promoter he certainly didn't win many fans over that day.

that's lorry drivers for you!

Not really. Jamie was a very promising rider until he suffered severe injuries around 2006. I do agree with you though that some fathers reputations can open doors that should remain closed.

and brothers. Has anyone signed James Holder this season?

is he a media man ?

No, hence my question about what he is going to do to promote the club. He's a lorry driver. I think he had a big input into why the recent track changes were made in the way they were and when they were. I will definately be first in the queue to thank him and admit how wrong i was when these changes prove to have done the trick with regards to entertainment. Hope all the rest of you doubters will join me in the queue  .

weirdly enough, i was only on Facebook this morning looking at the photo's of the track changes and thinking to myself how shy the experts, track curators etc were when they they were being taken. On every one they appear to be just out of shot. Can anyone remind who they were again?

Lorry driver ? nothing wrong with an honest job like that but your right what input will that give the club on the media and commercial front that is badly needed.

So you say he had a big input into the track changes, does that mean glyn has little say now on changes.

I will wait to pass judgement on the track until i see it but i hope my doubts are proven wrong.

can you give me a detailed reason why you doubt the track changes will work.....please give your own reasons not recycled from other posters comments.

I suspect you doubt because you secretly want the changes to fail,if in fact the changes turn out to provide decent racing will you say we'll done or just find something else to moan about.

Definately nothing wrong with lorry drivers! The most honest of all honest trades!

I have no idea how much input he had in the changes. I'm just looking at the evidence available, putting 2 and 2 together and making my usual 5. Equally, I have no idea what say Glyn has on changes anymore as he has stated he is not discussing it. but he wasn't in the country when they were started and they look nothing like what was muted so by power of deduction my guess is he hasn't. Maybe he was there for the 3/4 bend alterations but is out of shot? that's was my question about the photo's, does anybody know?

Glyn mentioned wanting to move it 5 metres in at both ends, it was moved about 4 feet, just over a metre,Thats why i wonder if the track changes were taken out of glyns hands as he doesnt seem to be in the pics or was he?

I cannot see what difference moving the line in 4ft would help in creating another racing line, had it been even 3 or 4 metres then that would make a difference and provide another racing line.

Do you honestly think i or anyone else would moan if the track was right and could see good racing each week.

Thank you very much for your help.

However, without wishing to worry anyone I think the big issue regards Leicester Speedway will eventually be the rest of the site. Opposition is building to the eyesore of landfill and the rest of the land being under used (particularly as some of it was proposed to be be used as football pitches etc. as part of a Football Foundations scheme). The local community lost a facility in parkland and recreation and Beaumont Park as a whole would probably be the cheapest option in providing that facility again in the local area.

The Speedway club missed a couple of chances to house other minority sport teams on the site. I can feel a storm brewing on it.

My understanding was that the site was to have been developed in conjunction with Leicester City Council but sometime during last season they said that they could no longer afford to be a partner in the planned projects. They even asked if the speedway company would like to expand the site for themselves but as you know this would all require a considerable amount of money which has not yet been obtained or provided. I agree the site is an eyesore and must be at least made presentable before any further Elite League ambitions are entertained.

How does one become a part promoter ?

Are you elected to the position by the members of the board of directors, or do you invest an amount of cash in to the business.

Do you answer an advert in the promoters and posh titles gazette or do you just know someone ?

The latter is a common way of becoming a promotor i have noticed. I know a few who have become a promotor and not invested any money.

How much money has hemsley & jones put in of there own money ? How much is the new promotor going to put into the club, these are all questions that we may never know the answer but to answer your question anyone can become a promotor if you know the right people.

I would guess it's a bit of all of those (well bar the advert!)

In Leicester's case, going by the latest addition, it would also appear to be the case that being totally blind to the basic mechanics of track design and an almost pathological desire to ignore any experts in the field doesn't go amiss either!

That was my understanding as well. Last time i spoke to David Hemsley, a couple of weeks ago, he gave me the impression that he had taken on sorting the whole site, which indicates that he wasn't previously required to do that.

Mick. Just want to correct you and Barrow Boy on this issue.

The council were NEVER, at any point, part of the funding for the development. It was all meant to be funded by private money. They would never have agreed to spending public money on it! The council's role was simply to approve planning and then subsequently arrange a lease for this public-owned site with Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd, who these days is one person, the same one as is Leicester Speedway Ltd. The exact terms of that lease, including commencement dates for any development, is what the issue is now, along with the appalling current state of what was formerly a very nice green public park.

The non-speedway parts of the development were meant to be privately funded but no-one ever signed up to it, not before or after planning approval was achieved. Even the speedway had no money back then! The tipping arrangement, which came about some 9 months after planning was approved, is what raised the money for the track to be built. In the absence of any other sports organisations being involved, BSC Ltd are now faced with having to sort something out to appease the council and I think that's what he would be talking about when he says taking over the responsibility for it, but as the MD of BSC Ltd, it's his responsibility anyway as far as the council are concerned.
