Leicester Lions 2013

If you read my original post you might see I was trying to convey blackbirds dedication since taking up the sport seriously again over the last two years rather than as a teen. But fair comment.

Reserves are a gamble but I think the boys have 5 good pros around them to help them

5 NO 6 good pros came at cost points wise leaving me with a 3 pointer at reserve with Simon.

I went for the 2 Lewis's as they are older than most 3 pointers and are more mature and can take direction from

other team members and myself. Both are very settled in they lives away from speedway. Which is something I look at very closely.

Lewis Blackbird was very close to breaking through last season. Had a few problems with Mildenhall which I felt unsettled him at times.

Lewis Kerr is an out and out racer who puts it on the line every time. As I said both can take direction. I think that they will be around 4/6 points

by mid season.

I truly believe that there is not a gamble in the team. The top 5 can all put 1/2 point on their average. Simon 1 point on his and the Lewis's 1 on theirs. Total 46.5.

Look in the records and most league Champions over the last few years are around 44 points.

Who will defeat the mighty Lions if they're going to be 2.5 points better than all League Champs before them? Dear me.

Nielsen a gamble at reserve on his average ??? No way! He's great at reserve on his average !

I think that on the road your reserves will have to back up the top 4, I am saying that can your reserves step up on away tracks and back up to top boys. I think it's a valid question, I personally like watching both of your reserves ride, but I am simply asking can they back up the top five to ensure that the team does not suffer from being too top heavy.

I am playing devils advocate a bit, as the Leicester team does look a decent one on paper.

away from home, Jan Grav almost always has at least 1 good race away from home when he pops out the start and picks up vital 3rd places also, to back up top 4. I see us getting a few more losing bonus points than the 1 we got last yr to make the difference in regular season and in 2 leg matches

Even Mr mysterioso Hamish McRaker would surely have to agree with those sentiments! Cock on!

I think we all know who Hamish is....It's one of the usual suspects.....Quim the bulls----r,knobert72 or speediberk under a pseudonym.

No intelligent debate on here. Thats me done with this topic. Only been trying to keep you informed as to the decisions I made and why.

For what its worth, Glyn, I both appreciate your comments and think its a very decent team.

Get the track sorted out and this could be a big year for Leicester Speedway.

Disappointing. Just when I was thinking how good it was that the team manager is keeping fans informed of what's going on you say that.

The Coventry promotion have their critics but one of the best things about last season was team manager Blayne Scroggins reviewing every match on Facebook and answering questions. Bees fans may rave about Colin Pratt and Alun Rossiter but I can't remember them ever interacting with the fans like that so it was very much appreciated. Hope you will just ignore the 'taking the mickey' type posts and carry on Glyn. although you will have to develop a sense of humour because I haven't really seen anything too bad yet to warrant you giving up on this topic.

Good post i agree i think it's great that someone directly involved keeps the fans regularly updated. I wish our promotion did the same.

Very very nice looking side put together here and as long as Leicester avoid an injury hit season, a shoe in for a play off place.

i agree Gemini, though i'm a little worried it was my post that did it!.

I do try and write posts that make for meaningful debate (though at times it does prove difficult). My last post was certainly meant as a dig at those who constantly dig at anyone who says anything posititve about Leicester (and Glyn's post was as positive as they get) but there you go.

Mick.
