mrcts
DH told me myself yesterday that the changes Glyn advised & wanted to happen were not being carried out the changes are what DH wants. He maintains we have brilliant racing at BP. DH quote was if Glyn wants those changes then he is going to have to buy the stadium off me until that point he is just an employee of Leicester speedway. well if that's DH attitude he won't have a buisness to promote if the changes are ineffectual. wandersome
i wonder if any of the riders signed this year have put pen to paper on the pre tense that glyn promised them this year they would have a racers track, I don't know about the riders but i have bought 2 season tickets and a sponsorship package on the back of meaningful track changes and a racers track happening. Heres hoping that's not the last they get out me as it's definately last chance saloon time from me! Mick.
jim the whipper
He has probably removed it because of the comments on this forum. Give them a chance to finish the job before criticising the work!! Take a couple of minutes to read my posts , and then another couple to point out where I criticised the work please . if you can't ,kindly shut your gob The vacancies for oversensitive and blinkered posters have all been filled for the time being . but as most with more than one braincell are jumping ship you might not have long to wait for one . mrcts
it seems you and neb are changing your views abit absolutely not, everybody that attends meetings knows that the track is not the best race track in the world and I've never said it was.... I just can't see the point in repeating whats obvious unlike some!I started going to Blackbird Road in 1977 so I know what a good race track is. I too have renewed my season ticket but it will be the last time if this opportunity to drastically change the racing surface for the better is not taken. Steve Irving
If they are going to all the trouble of uprooting the drains then they may as well make the most of that by making changes that are worthwhile. For me the straights are too narrow too not just the bends so why not take the inside line in all the way around? Smaller track would result, but far better racing. Ipswich done similar a few years back. They had a very narrow track and the racing suffered, but when I went there last year for the Redcar meeting, the difference in the track and racing was night and day compared to how it used to be.

Have ever been? From curb to fence Leicester is one of the widest tracks in the country.
Steve Irving
Have ever been? From curb to fence Leicester is one of the widest tracks in the country. Yes I've been once last season. Widest in the country? Fair enough, must have been a very deceptive angle from where I was sitting!
CardinalSin
I've only ever been to Leicester the once and that was 2011 when the Witches won the fours. I've got to admit I also thought the straights looked a little narrow too. Not overly so and Ive seen narrower, but still a tad tight. I enjoyed my visit and thought the racing was actually ok and better than I was expecting after reading so many negative comments about the track beforehand. But I guess the comments from those that attend on a regular basis hold a lot more water than mine who has seen only the one meeting. If you get a chance to go again, have a look at the riders head on when they are at the tapes then go Newcastle or Rye House and compare the difference. lionheart
If the team were signed up on the strength of promises of track improvements, which are now not being undertaken, perhaps we will see a few rider movements early in the season
Jeanzi
Worky is very narrow also compared to the wide bends. Worky had its straights widened to 10m when Keith Denham took over in 2008! It now passes FIM standards. Not sure how it is narrow?
oleoleole
David Hemsley is the guest of Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club tomorrow night (Tuesday). For a nominal entrance fee you can come along and ask him any questions you like. Politely of course. http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk/
Leicester Lion
I heard Hemsley himself boasting to a visiting bigwig about how wide it is (presumably he meant the track) - but most of the width of the straights at BP isn't used. The track might as well be 2 metres wide on the straights as it's invariably single file. Passing only happens when there is a wide difference between the riders' abilities, or when someone makes a mistake or strays off the line. There isn't any real racing, the sort you get when two riders of similar standard pass and repass each other. The dimensions of the track prevent riders from building up extra speed, as they have to lose it again going into the next corner. In my opinion the straights are far too long, and need shortening by 20-30 metres. The width of the straights might then take on some significance.

ukrossifan
From pictures circulating on Facebook it looks like a fair difference in where the kerb was and now is on bends 1 & 2, so lets just wait and see when racing takes place and Glyn has prep'd it
