Edinburgh V Workington (play-offs) - Friday, October 19th (7.30pm)

Recommended Posts

Edinburgh put local lad Tommy Fenwick in their team.

Glasgow have local lad James McBain in their 1-7.

Berwick have Liam Carr as No 8, use him when they can.

Yet folk are criticising this, presumably wanting these team positions filled by Ukrainians, Slovakians or English riders from 400 miles away?

Is Tommy local ? just asking.

Moto-X yes, Manchester no.

Definately Scottish. Pretty sure it is Falkirk or Grangemouth.

I stand corrected. I have been looking at him lately and that is what I was told when i asked.

Martin Hastings of Berwick could possibly confirm this.

Yeah, Tommy is definitely Scottish.

A couple of things here. Let be honest, there is absolutely no one we could have brought in that would be able to compete with the 2 Workington reserves. I'm not being defeatist, more realistic. They both used to ride for us. What would be the point in paying for someone up from down south to score nothing.

I'm delighted Tommy is getting another chance to see what the PL is all about. The lad has worked his backside off this season to try to make a foothold for himself in the sport. His attitude and effort is genuinely first class and is learning week in, week out. It's not even been a year since he first sat on a speedway bike yet.

Best of luck to tommy tomorrow get out there tommy and do as you all do and give it one hundred per cent ignore these doubters I wonder if they know you have not been doing speedway that long. Would love to see you get out there and score points ( ut not beating the comets) and yes we're mates with tommy .

Well as Paulco would say part one of our plan complete agent Fenwick in place, Cookie now's your chance to impress the Comets management for a place next season and all you need to do is NOTHING. ;0))

In reality it would be a major shock (for me at least) if we came away with anything from this meeting, but I am sure the lads will do their best and whatever the score hope all stay safe.

Helfer is racing in a lot of end of season continental meetings according to reports Mr Snaps.. On another subject i see that Richard 'Rastaman' Lawson is being replaced by guest Aaron Summers on friday as his shoulder 'hasnt responded to treatment'. Call me Mr Cynical but isnt this is just a wee bit convenient after Richards pish poor showings at Armadale in the recent past, and last saturdays ahem grasstrack meeting at Derwent Park?! I'm prepared to be shot down in flames for doubting the poor wee soul.. if he has an excuse note written and signed by his mammy of course.. ;):P

You could be dead right with that, but it's probably nothing that the Monarchs haven't done before

Yes, he comes from Falkirk and has done extremely well for the Saints given his almost total lack of speedway experience.

Good luck tomorrow Tommy.

All the best

Rob

Echo the good wishes for Tommy.

His first wins against Stoke last month were some of the most happily celebrated 3 points that the EWR saw all season.

He's a likeable whole hearted trier, and they are always welcome at a meeting I'm watching. But, realistically, any points the lad scores will be a bit of a bonus come Friday night.

Mon the Monarchs !

I would like to see you try and ride after dislocating your shoulder haha. Dont think I have seen anyone in 14 years of watching speedway, ride after dislocating their shoulder and putting it back in and then going out and getting a paid win around BRough park! He has had shoulder problems before so I am sure he doesnt want to make the same mistake again. Is Rene back does anyone know?

You're not Richards mammy are you?! :o;) I have been on a speedway bike before as it goes, but not i'm glad to say with a dislocated shoulder..even I'm not that mad! Personally i hope Rene is riding as he is always entertaining and gives it a crack.I was standing about twenty yards away from his crash at Owlerton on sunday and it was a scary one  Here's hoping he's ok :approve:
