StevePark
Pains me to say it but would of rather had Nedermark than Henry, I really like Christian but I think the upside of Claes is higher, if imagine its financial giving that Christian lives in Newcastle Claes is based in Darlington, which isn't exactly a fair distance away. It's a decent looking 6 so far, with Andy T effectively replacing Lemo and Richie replacing Claes. The seventh signing could be crucial, but, whoever it is, is joining a solid looking top 5 and a decent 'top' reserve, so there might not be as much pressure on them as there could have been. ruffdiamond
I have to say am disappointed to not see Ned in there, but happy that the majority are back :-) I hope Claes gets a place somewhere, but if he's got some spare time on his hands, am aware that some Santa's are still required in the local department stores, like Farnon's n that,,,
scaramanga
i make that 4.14 for last rider so proberbly only jason king or charles wright from experienced riders ritchie in the body of the team coming back from injury might knock him back if hes struggling for fitness and form early on but on last years form he should have no problem

SCOTLAND1314
Glad that Andrew has sorted a team place so quickly. Good luck I hope the move allows him to improve. He's shown he can shine on a variety of tracks over the years and he just needs to add a bit of consistency to his game. Easy for me to say harder to resolve. Regardless good luck chap. NJC71
I'm not sure at all about the inclusion of Tully. Certainly a capable rider and on his night he can beat anybody. But over a season will he outscore Lemo (even the 2012 version) and does he have more potential for improvement than Ned? I'm not convinced but time will tell. I have been proven wrong many times before. Happy to see all of the others back, particularly the Worrall's. The success of this team could well depend on how well both come back from injury, particularly Richie. If he rides and scores like he did up until injury last year we'll be very strong again, but that is a big ask and this looks a team that has been built on the assumption that he'll soon be back to form rather than one that can cover for him if he struggles for a while. All in all it looks like a team that (injury aside) will do very well at home but it could be a different story on the road and that's where I think the absence of Ned will be felt. I would back Tully to probably outscore Ned at Brough but on the road Ned was very good last year, particularly in the second half of the season when he was probably our best rider with several double figure returns due in the main to his superb gating. Tully (and also Lindrgen for that matter) will really need to up their games away from home if the Diamonds are to be successful. As for the last place, well Jason King is the most obvious choice but he needs to be 100% fit. We'll already have Steve coming back from injury at reserve (as well as Richie) and we simply can't afford another. wjm
Pretty decent side, in theory…stronger than the one that actually raced on track for a large part of last season. Same as every winter though, some teams announce early and get stronger/weaker the more sides that come out.
ShadowCaptain
Successful teams require two elements to be successful - an injury-free season, and riders whose averages improve. Robbo is a class act, and, after a difficult season with some horrible injuries, could improve his average and be the number 1 rider that this team will need. If unaffected by their injuries, the Worralls could improve their averages massively, and Ludvig (another class act) has visited all the PL away tracks, and should give extra impetus to our away record (lots of near misses, but...) Happy to be proven wrong, but suspect that Claes may not improve during the season. He came to the Diamonds with a reputation of being hit-and-miss, and his great end to the season gone did not fully mask some very poor meetings previously. The question whether Andrew Tully has also reached his potential could be pivotal to the success of this Diamonds team. I am with the others on here about Jason King. Given his ability, he could be a tremendous reserve for the Diamonds, but only if he is fully fit, and wants to race. So many boxers want a fight too many, and get hurt. I do not want any rider to get hurt because they ride a season too many, or ride when they have lost their keeness for the sport, but get persuaded back into it.

The White Knight
I think that the Team so far looks reasonably competative. It appears we have gone for all round strength again next year. Nothing wrong with that - it served us well last Season. All in all - I am happy with what I am seeing. Andrew Tully I have always liked - I just hope that he can hit the ground running (riding actually ). He is a good Rider - but - we must wait and see. As for the other lads - I am delighted they are back. As I said earlier, sad about Ned - but - I wish him well wherever he goes. It WOULD be good if Jason King could return fully fit. I don't know the ins and outs of the Rules - but - it would be good too if Paul Starke could be signed up as No. 8. He never let us down last Season and looks like a real talent given time to develop. VERDICT: This Team will be in with a chance in most Competitions - we can ask for no more than that. :t:
ShadowCaptain
ludvig a class act are you sure shadow captain, your not confusing him with big brother by any chance are you? No; I can differentiate between them! Unlike some of the harum-scarum riders in the PL, Ludvig is a very 'comfortable' rider, and there is planning in his racing, instead of going for any available gap. I like his style. He has a chance to become as good as Fast Freddie IMO.

lionking
Solid looking side yet again from the diamonds . I thought Leicester had a strong team but if they stay clear of injury then they will top the league but then its down to the play offs as you well know from 2012
dantodan
I am happy with the team, but I would have kept Claes and let Christian go as Claes has more potential that Christian. But either rider will do for me, so I am happy with that situation Andrew Tully is a rider to join the team with our hopes that he will up his average. He needs to start the season with some double figure scores otherwise we will all be rumbling on with "Should have kept Lemo" I have seen Andrew have pretty good rides at Brough. His problem is inconsistancy. We need to be able to count on him to score well in the difficult heats. Mark if he was back in 2013 would average around 7.5 points so that has to be Tullys goal to average 7.5 points a match and hopefully a wee bit more. Richie and Steve. I pray that their injuries will not hinder them and have not knocked their confidence. The twins hold the key to us having another great season. Stuart in 2012 was at times a bit hit n miss but what a crowd pleaser when he gets the bit between his teeth. I am really pleased he is back with us Would I have wanted an out and out 9 point leader? Yes but as George and Darryl proved in 2012 you can top the table with a team without a proper No1 rider. I am happy with the team so far and if no7 is Jason King we will have a good second reserve. We need to average better than 3-3 in heat two and Steve and Jason should be able to do that injuries apart Edited November 28, 2012 by dantodan

I like what Iv'e seen of Ludvig around Brough Park, where he was top ponts scorer last season - however - away from home is another matter, where he only scored half as many points. Away from home he scored the least points of the Diamonds top five riders - something he needs to put right, and if he gets it right he can be a great no1 for the team. BERNIE43
A good team as long as the worralls perform like they did last season but we still haven't got an out and out no1 rider .
dantodan
My crystal ball tells me it could be Steve Worrals year to impress he can gate and he rode some excellent blasts around the second bend, a sign of self confidence. I became a fan of his last year OK Richie was better but look out for the other twin in 2013. Ludvig was great at Brough in 2012, he can pass outside and inside. Just do it on other tracks Ludvig and we will be happy Stuart Robson - English/ Mackem Richie Worral - English Andrew Tully - English/IOM Christian Henry - Australian Ludvig Lindgren - Swedish Steve Worral - English Poss. Jason King - English Must be a few years ago that we had so many English lads in our side. I am happy with overseas riders but it is good to have mainly English riders for a change. It should be cheaper for the promoters in 2013 as only Mr Lindgren will be commuting Well its almost december so season 2013 is only 3.5 months till tapes up. George English has been in charge for 17 years which is the longest unbroken spell in Newcastles history. keep going George with Darryl and the others you are well appreciated
