A Very Big Thankyou

Recommended Posts

Hi all - just wanted to pass on a few messages of thanks to those who have helped out with my coverage of the Swedish Elite League season on Premier Sports this year.

Firstly, a massive thankyou to Ghostwalker for his incredibly detailed and insightful coverage of the whole speedway scene over in Sweden - an invaluable source of information and updates especially during meetings when there have been delays and problems at the track. Many thanks for your superb assistance.

Secondly, a big thankyou to ManchesterPaul for his excellent racecards and permitting me to distribute them to Premier subscribers ahead of meetings - an excellent service for both me and the fans and always as up to date as possible.

Thirdly, a thankyou to everyone both on the forum and elsewhere who have offered messages of support and constructive criticism throughout the season - although I have done television commentary before (mainly on stock car racing for Premier) this was my first live TV commentating job and I admit I did make a few errors especially early in the season, but the reaction of everyone has been very positive and I thank everyone for their kind comments.

Will keep in touch over the winter - hope you are all watching on Premier Sports in 2013!

Dave Goddard.

You have done a great job this year Dave  , doing the Swedish League on Premier Sports. Much better than the guy they had doing it last year, he seemed to know nothing about speedway.

Hope the Swedish League returns to Premier Sports next year and we get the Polish Extraliga shown in some form, with you commentating on both. :t:

Congratulations Dave to a successful first year as speedway commentator.

Due to restrictions i have been unable to watch your broadcast but I am

sure that you do a better job then misters twist and shout. ;)

Also will you do on-location commentary next year as well? Or was it only during the playoffs?

Many thanks on behalf of speedway fans to Dave Goddard. It's been refreshing to have a sports commentator who doesn't have to employ caricature gimmicks in his broadcasts.

It may be worth bearing in mind how, aside from football, television companies can have a tendency to shuffle commentators around for their other sports. Therefore hopefuly anyone who has enjoyed the broadcasts will consider dropping a line to Premier Sports and show their appreciation.

The racecards will be in place again next season and thanks for the thanks Dave.

Unless i'm under the wrong impression i think the flights that Dave refers to are from the studios in Ireland??? Not sure now lol. If so it's all the more reason as to why he has done such a grand job with a restricted information flow.

ok, right I didn't know. Although I did wonder how he was able to catch a 22.45 (Swedish time) when doing Vetlanda commentary. ;)

That is correct Paul - I fly from Birmingham to the Premier Sports headquarters in Dublin on a Tuesday afternoon, and if it is a single Tuesday night fixture fly back early Wednesday morning. If there is a Wednesday night match as well (i.e. playoffs) I fly back on the Wednesday night after the broadcast, which is why I am always desperate for no rain delays on a Wednesday!

I appreciate that sometimes I do give the impression that I am there at the track in Sweden, but I think that helps when trying to bring across the atmosphere to the fans. So now you know! ;)

I think we need to change that for next year then. ;)

Can only reiterate comments made by others. Many thanks Dave for your excellent commentary of the Swedish speedway this season. So refreshing to have informed and sensible commentating without the over the top screaming and shouting we see on Sky. Will most definitely be tuning in next season.

All the best
