21st century heathen
Where have you had the line-ups from?
Super Blue
If these lineups are correct it should be an interesting meeting ! Hope Josh Bates has not come back to early as this is not the meeting to be a tester for him ! Maybe he's had some laps somewhere and feels good ? Looking forward to it already . MrMungo
Was told he's had a few laps at Scunthorpe. Definitely a big test for him. The key man for Mildenhall, in my opinion. If he is on it from the go, and bearing in mind he will probably take 2 R/R rides, Mildenhall could be taking a nice lead to Wolverhampton later in the month. rhidassa
I didn't stay after the meeting at King's Lynn on Wednesday, but I did hear someone day that Josh Bates was having a skid after the meeting.
Damon
What a meeting ! firstly I hope Byron Bekkers injuries aren't as bad as rumoured around the track. Although he didnt take any further part in the meeting it had some impact but not as much as I thought it might, as our resrves were first class. Josh Bates first meeting back and he was excellent, and Terry Daley has his best meeting so far aswell.... Garrity is class and I hope we can book him for all the remaining meetings.... Jacobs, Halsey, Nielson all played their part. 28 points will that be enought? i hope so.... well done MIldenhall....
adz_mft
Can only agree with your comments Damon.Best wishes to Byron.Really nasty looking crash.Fingers crossed for him. Superb performance by the boys today.Everyone played their part.Great to see RTD having his best meeting for us.Deserved all the points he got. The track again was in superb condition, which produced some fast, close racing. Just need a new set of tapes and we will be well away. Well done lads
Damon
Perhaps they can put some of the money from the extra charge on the programme!
Super Blue
Cracking result for the Tigers , would have been a bit closer had it not have been for the nasty crash Byron had ( hope he's ok and had has a speedy recovery ) Every team member did well and chipped in on the scoring ! It should now be in Mildenhalls hands now and if they give up a 28pt lead then they don't deserve the cup ! Well done today lads !
MrMungo
Dreadful day for injuries with Blackbird also breaking his collarbone. Best wishes to Bekker - awful, awful crash, and hope the injuries are not as bad as feared.
PhilK
Firstly best wishes to Byron Bekker after a horrible looking fall, lets hope it is not as serious as at first seemed. Also best wishes to Lewis Blackbird, Mildenhall have certainly had more than their share of injuries this season with Stoneman, Bates (twice), Blackbird (twice), Jacobs and Baseby all suffering this season. But still we battle on, and today was a brilliant performance from the six riders. Bates back from injury hit the ground running with a superb last to first ride in heat 2, and only 1.5 seconds outside Adam Roynons track record. Reserve partner Terry-Daley stepped up on previous performances scoring in each ride and lifting the roof with his paid win in heat 14! Jacobs and Halsey consistent as ever and each one stopping a Dudley TR from Haines and Perry respectively. Nielsen who would have only dropped one point today had he not shed a chain in heat 13, how this lad keeps bouncing back is incredible, as well as skill he has the courage to go with it! And finally Jason Garrity, who is fast becoming a Mildenhall legend!! I have never seen a guest who gives so much for the side he represents both on and off the track, a true team man and one of the most exciting riders around to watch. Dudley were weakened of course by Bekkers withdrawal, this is when R/R can come back and bite you, both reserves had to take seven rides and whilst Ritchings was always in the mix, White-Williams was poor. 28 points is a big lead of course, but after last years two Play off finals I certainly won't be celebrating anything yet! Heathen1984
Knock out cup is over, dudley aint gona pull 28 points back. Bekkers injury had an effect on al dudleys riders i think, only haines come out with some credit for dudley. Just won of those for us. Well done mildy, all on it today.
Parsloes 1928 nearly
Garrity is a great rider! Seen him a few times at Rye this season and he's been outstanding.
aljack
Shame this meeting was totally spoiled by a very nasty looking crash and injury to Bekker, I do hope he is not injured as much as first feared. His injury seemed instantly to take the guts out of the Dudley side especially him being their captain and I suppose being a load of young riders thats understandable. So thereafter it became almost a procession of Mildenhall winners and many 5 - 1s and running out easy easy winners by 28 points. The 2nd leg now should be a total formality. No wonder speedway is struggling to survive when fans have to pay £12 to watch 3rd tier speedway and then also have to buy an over priced programme. Thank god the fish and chips are still brill and sensibly priced at £5.50 and at least we enjoyed those
Main Man
Aljack -- well put. Congrats to the Fen Tigers on a determined display but the Heathens were hit hard by the loss of Byron ---Dan Greenwood in particular and I am sure the lad won't mind me saying it but he was in bits after the crash as Byron has become a good mate of his this year. I spent quite a while talking to him and must thank Tom Perry (who I think was hit by it as well as was subdued and not his normal self), Joe Haines, Gary Patchett and Jan O Pedersen for their input in getting him back on track after the crash. It was a speedway accident but riders are affected by such events and all credit to him and the rest of the team for getting on with it ...but it couldn't have been easy.
21st century heathen
First and foremost a bit of good news. The Heathens website, in an pre-meeting article for tomorrow, states that Byron has not broken his femur as was first feared. He does sound pretty banged up though so is clearly out of action. It's great news that he's escaped a broken leg though. Secondly, congrats to Mildenhall. The team look to have gone about their business in a truly professional manner. Their riders can only go out and do their best for their club. There's no way we can turn around that kind of deficit so it's disappointing as a Heathens fan. Already without Ash and losing Byron in that manner does look to have shook the lads up because even against such a strong team I'd have expected more points from Tom, Dan and Darryl. That's speedway for you though, so we just have to move on to the next meeting and it's equally as important. It's going to need all the experience of those involved with the Heathens to get their heads up and put them in the right frame of mind for tomorrow. A further bit of good news, potentially at least, is that Roynon is planning a comeback this weekend. I'm not sure if he's brave or foolish but best wishes to him, and fingers crossed that if he rides again this season he does so with a great deal of care!!
bruno
first of all ,all the best to byron,as others have said a really awful crash.looks like the news is not as bad as first seemed but still i bet hes in some pain today congrats to mildenhall they were head and shoulders above us and fully deserved the big lead.the crash obviously upset the lads and with no ash it was too much of a handicap this is not sour grapes, honest! but ive been to mildenhall a fair few times now and while the racing is always fast and close there never seems to be a great deal of passing.maybe its me cuz its not nice to watch your team getting stuffed comments mildy fans and not abuse please ps i wish we had your stadium and track locally tho and the fish and chips and curry sauce
Damon
Putting the accident to one side, which no one likes to see, everyone I have spoken to thinks the meeting was thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. Some of the overtaking moves by the Mildenhall riders was exceptional. Halsey on Perry, and Bates round the outside were superb ! Jacobs didnt over take many as he was always in front ! Decent post by 21st CH "Secondly, congrats to Mildenhall. The team look to have gone about their business in a truly professional manner. Their riders can only go out and do their best for their club." Obviously the accident must have had some impact on the riders and perhaps it also might have impacted some of the Mildenhall lads?? although the scoreline looks large some of the passing was well worth the £12 entrance fee. I would agree with the comments from Aljack regarding the programme price.
