Parsloes 1928 nearly
Quick question... This year back in April, the National Shield was contested between Mildenhall & Dudley... Mildenhall were in it, I assume, as 2011 KOC winners but why was the Shield vs. Dudley and not the '11 League Champs, Scunthorpe..?
Heathen1984
Maybe cause we were the holders of it!
berniev123
The winners from 2011 (Dudley) had to defend it at the start of 2012 to "open the NL Season", which we did and have to, I presume, do the same in 2013. Parsloes have a quick look at Wolves fixture list, I think they did the same in the EL Shield but lost to Poole H & A so, I assume, Poole will have to defend it in 2013. I do not know if there is a PL Shield run the same way.

Normally these kind of comps are between winners of league and cup but there you go...!! Thanx again.
martin_t
If,and it could happen(fingers crossed)Dudley do the double this year, will they race against themselves next year :-)
builderbob
no mildenhall as they will probabally be the only 2 teams in the league

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Well, I believe Dudley's original position in the 2011 Shield was as the 'next best team' of '10 when Buxton did the League & Cup Double (gosh, hard to believe the Hirtmen won the double that recently!!); so it seems weird to me that for the '12 comp it wasn't the Saints vs. the FTs. Don't tell me our beloved co-ordinator got a bit confused again..?! Edited September 30, 2012 by Parsloes 1928 nearly
berniev123
I think we got the crack at the 2011 NS because we were NL Leaders 2010 at the end of the NL 2010 Season & Buxton won everything, so nobody to ride against except themselves. Of course and that was entirely correct. But someone then seems to have forgotten that when the double's not done the Shield is to be contested between the league champs (play off winners) and the KOC winners...!!
