Riders' First Names Trying To Identify

Parsloes 1928 nearly

Right, I have a list (not that big...) of riders I've seen over the years whose first names I have no record of...

Might as well start with a real hard 'un.

Saw him in the second haldf at Iwade in the short-lived BL Div 3 days of the Kent Crusaders...; rider's name M. Lancaster... Anyone know full name and any other details..?

Parsloes, these are too difficult. Can you make them easier? Something like M. Burrows, rode for Wimbledon between 2003 and 2005. Then I'd be able to help you. ;)

All thebest

Rob

Ah ha, but WOULD that be so easy considering that M. Burrows esq's first name ISN'T Mark (or even Buzz!)!

I'll try going a bit further back then - and this time the surname could be wrong too!

August 1976 at Arlington, second half of an Eastbourne vs. Crayford match...

G. Benfold...?

Anyone know details (first name; if that surname's right..?) for this one..?

Guy Benfield was a regular second halfer at Weymouth in 1977. Not sure where else he rode or when but I seem to remember that he came from the Southampton area.

Second half at Wolves in '02 after a match vs. Wimbledon - these three juniors turned out:

A, Jackson

N. Hedley

L. Howard

First names appreciated!

A Jackson is Andrew (drew) Jackson ,he sadly passed away from complications from throat cancer in a few years ago , 2006 i think , he was born in Manchester and was British under 21 cycle speedway champion ,he lived in Wolverhampton and had a pub there up until his passing

Thanks for that, Deano. Sad news though.

Second half rider at Boston in 1976...

Have it down as Alan Mouth in my programme...

Would that be correct..?

And at Crayford in a 1976 NNL meeting the Paisley number 7 was a P. Cornwall. But that name's NOT listed in The History of the BL as riding for Paisley that year.. Can anyone shed light on that one?

1977 yearbook suggests there was a Phil Cornwell rode for Peterborough at Crayford in 1976 but there is nothing to do with a P Cornwall and Paisley...........Phil scored 3 +1 in his only meeting for them...............

Phil Cornwell failed to score for Paisley at Crayford in 1976 in a 51-27 defeat.

Parseloes, Talking of unidentified riders, at Plough Lane you often referred to the "Widnesian Whirlwind" in your prog notes but I can't recall any riders from that RL hotbed..

Wise words, oh pro one!

Though the rider concerned once told me he'd travelled around that Cheshire town searching for a statue of his good self, in the knowledge he was apparently revered as a favourite son!!
