Lakeside 2013

Recommended Posts

We are planning our first visit to Lakeside on Good Friday. As two of us cannot stand for long is there a decent seating area or must we bring our own chairs.

Any advice will be appreciated

Haven't been for a couple of years so not sure of any improvements?! As I remember, the M25 was the only seated area!!!!:wink:

Bring chairs. There will be many others doing the same. There isn't a seated grandstand type area at all, though there is a covered area by the starting gate where regulars bring their own fold up chairs.

Together with, windbreak, thermals and a flask of something hot!

There's also the bar area and there are usually seats on the balcony. However, you need to get there early as these are quickly taken. It's also not the best viewing area in my opinion; being high up on the first bend.

As suggested, the covered grandstand is probably best. It certainly gets the best atmosphere for banter - particularly during Eastbourne meetings. ;)

Lewis scores a maximum on his debut for ZKS ROW Rybnik, in a comprehensive home win over MIR Equal, in the Polish league today!

Bit of a white wash that by the looks , his bikes looked good , well done though Lewis points needed to bring in the pennies and boost confidence.Hope he can score like that against the stars !!

Feel sorry for Richard Lawson, He is going to get out classed by Richie Worrall tomorrow and Lakeside fans are going to moan at him and Jon Cook.

Lawson's terrible around Lakeside, No idea why he was signed; He is dynamite around the Showground but poor everywhere else.

Of course, he wasn't the original choice. When negotiations with Richie Worrall broke down on the eve of the season, the Hammers had to make a rapid choice and Richard was available.

Lawson 4 rides paid 7

Worrall 7 rides paid 9

Only Lawson's third appearance as a Hammer at Arena Essex and on the night averages 7.00 whereas Worrall averaged 5.142 - enough said.

Fair enough, Rich surprised me... He's always good in Heat 2 but his other rides were more impressive and he nearly beat Niels.

His gating has always been top class.

He had Dave Watt in is corner last night, giving encouragement and advice. Watts presence makes a big difference. That's why Justin Sedgemen started riding pretty well in the EL last year despite being sacked by Redcar. Watt and Hans Andersen are by far the best captains in the EL (except when Davey gets an occasional downer).

I am sure Hammers fans will be fiercely loyal towards Lawson and anti anything Worrall, however there is little chance that Worrall will not end up with a higher EL average at the end of the season.

I don't disagree, (in fact Worrall will already have a higher average on the next G/S) with that but everybody loves a fighter and Richard has come into the side at short notice and very much as the underdog and showed great spirit. He is never going to be World Champion and has his limitations but if he holds his end up and increases his average by even a small amount everyone will be pleased.
