mike7164
So you not going then?? Yes as always I will be there as usual I am not affected as I'm a season ticket holder but I would be there even if I wasn't as I am passionate about my club, but I really think the crowds will be down and disagree with holding two important matches back to back and don't see the point in making it where people (may OR may not) stay away as you want as many people to attend all important matches I would of thought? What do you rate as value for money? Yes! 30 heats is not guaranteed to produce 30 heats of great entertainment but the two matches are important are they not? If we were faced with a double header of league matches just to complete our league commitment and if we were no better than half way up the league I think I would be wavering to pay the double admission. But hey we are in the finals and I for one would have been delighted way back in March to be warned that an important double header may happen in September. The only blame for this situation can be attached to the British weather and the fast approaching end of october deadline. Both sets of promoters agreed to the double double header and my main concern is still the weather. Somerset looks good for Friday but Newcastles forecast for Sunday ain't good Newcastle to win all 4 matches 50-40 eh? Ok yes not likely but I had a bet on in march that we would win a match 50-40 I agree partly with what you say but as a club I don't think we've been hit as bad with the weather as many other clubs (Thank goodness) but for the other part please see my above post! Rather than pay for Somerset to come TWICE, a double header is the sensible option. Potentially, Newcastle have 7 matches left at home (2 play-offs, 2 semi finals, a play off final and 2 other finals) in the 5 weeks left of the season. So another double header before the end of the season might be on the cards. Edited September 27, 2012 by The Abbott
dantodan
yes Abbott and isn't it great! Just what we hoped for all season. if it makes sense to run another double header we should do it. 2012 has been a great season for us and hopefully we can end it in style coming away with some silverware. As stated above I hope I'm wrong and I hope its a BIG success as I want the best for my club, but I do feel like we are shooting ourselves in the foot. Dinosaur
i guarantee that both teams will be severley depleted by the end of the 4th match and you will see 2 or 3 races completed with 3 riders only. Double headers on a cold night is bad news
The White Knight
Makes sense to run the four Meetings as Double Headers. Good luck to all Riders in these Meetings and let's hope that no injuries occur - to either Team. C'mooooooooon the 'Diamonds'.

Good luck to all Riders in these Meetings and let's hope that no injuries occur - to either Team. C'mooooooooon the 'Diamonds'. Of course it does Ian. Fans who moan about double headers at a reduced price, bloody hell what's the alternative. Full priced meetings bringing the same team back 3 days later, with double the travel costs and the same fans moaning about too many meetings in a week. I am delighted that those sort of fans do not make any decisions for our promotion. And why are we having doubleheaders, cos we have had a bloody good season, doing great in the PT comp, the KO Cup and topping the league table right down to the end and all that has given us more meetings for our success. And we still have moaners.

Backless
So what's the answer if double headers isn't? Up to 7 matches, 5 weeks left of the season. The only alternative is to run until mid November. Apart from the Aussies having gone home in some cases, that isn't going to pack the crowds in. i guarantee that both teams will be severley depleted by the end of the 4th match and you will see 2 or 3 races completed with 3 riders only. Double headers on a cold night is bad news Looking on the bright side, eh? According to you elsewhere, playoffs are the invention of the devil, so the meeting wouldn't be of interest to you anyway! What the hells that supposed to mean. Make sure you wear your balaclava with the hole at the front.
mike7164
Err.... you're registered blind...... Well spotted that man & have been for 10 years . But you get my drift . What the hells that supposed to mean. Meaning I think in this case what Newcastle is doing is wrong with both the pricing as well as running a double header with very little time or scope to advertise it as well as running a double header with what could be two of the most important fixtures of the season. Brilliant. Yes run as normal, cock up competitions because you miss the deadlines, get fined for it, waste the success you have made for yourself, and make speedway a laughing stock. And you say some are blind, well I know one that is.
