robinsgirl
Amazing rider. When he returned to Australia last break he still showed them how to get around the track, even Chris H! A pleasure to watch, hope he rides in uk next year. Good luck with whatever you do Jason.
Dave_minall
Despite the world champion being crowned in Torun, I hope Jason gets a heroes farewell in front of what will be a huge crowd.
williamfj
Shame to see Crump go, I thought he had another couple of years in the GPs at least. It would be great to see him racing in Britain again but I doubt it'll happen.
SCB
I find this quite sad. I remember when I first started getting into speedway that Crumpy was just startuing out in the sport himself so he'll be the first big name whos career I've seen from the start and it now looks like it's coming to an end. Â Thing is, I still see Curmpy as one of the few genuine contenders for a GP win each round - even if them wins have dried up in recent years. That said, Crumpy is a winner, and it doesn't surprise me that if he doesn't think he can't win then he won't complete - the way it should be really. Â I do hope this means a return to the British league though.
spencebel
Gutted by this news. He will be missed. Would love to see him ride over here next yr, so glad we got to go Cardiff this yr, little did we know that was to be his last time, that he rode there. They should offer him a role as commentator for the GPS. (new blood needed). Â All the best Jason...............
tomcat
Its a sad day for World Speedway, with Crumpie retiring from the SGP's. To be honest, he wasn't one of my favourite riders when he first started out, but in recent years, he has steadily grown on me, to the point where I give the fella a cheer during the GP's. World speedway will be poorer without Jason competeing, but we have to respect his decision and I will wish him luck for the rest of his career. Good on Yer Crumpy and Thanks for the memories of a true speedway racer. I just wish he had donned the Witch during his league career, as he rated Foxhall as one of his favourite tracks, something he regularly showed with his performances on the Heath. Â Good Luck and enjoy your League racing mate... you can still show the kids the way home at that level.
stratton
A great GP career and what a great example for youngsters starting out in speedway one of my all time favourites. It must run in the family because his dad and Streety were great people and riders too and have enjoyed watching all of them.I shall remember his battles with Leigh the most great races between them and total trust in each other (No taking each other out ? giving plenty of room)I hope he enjoys the rest of his racing career and good luck to him in whatever he chooses to do after his racing days are over. Parsloes 1928 nearly
THAT may not be correct  CONFIRMED by FIM this morning ... Jason Crump will be replaced in the 2013 FIM SGP series by the rider whose is ninth on the official standings at the end of the 2012 season.  Hmm, but when was the last time the rider finishing 9th. DIDN'T in any case get a pick for the next year!!??
Danish Webmaster
THAT may not be correct  CONFIRMED by FIM this morning ... Jason Crump will be replaced in the 2013 FIM SGP series by the rider whose is ninth on the official standings at the end of the 2012 season.  How can that be right ???  The regulation - art. 077.8.5 - clearly says that the rider to replace a qualified rider should be taken from the Qualified substitutes - that will be from Gorican next week !!!!!   Should a rider or riders who have qualified directly, either by being in the top 8 of the Final Overall Grand Prix Classification or in the top 3 of the FIM Grand Prix qualification system, withdraw prior to the start of the Grand Prix season, the first rider or riders available on the Official Grand Prix Qualified Substitute list shall replace him or them. Danish Webmaster
READ the previous part as well. What you have quoted above only applies AFTER the start of the new SGP season. Â Maybe my English isn't that good - but I think it says withdraw prior to the start of the Grand Prix season.... Â and we are now prior to the 2013 season from which Jason Crump is withdrawing - I can not find anything in the regulations that makes it leagal to offer a spot to the rider in 9th place (except giving him one of the 4 permanent wild cards)
iris123
I agree with D W.Unless you are suggesting that by saying before the end of this GP season that he won't be riding that gives AJ the spot, rather than if he waited until November or January to announce his retirement?Whatever,he will still ride in the last GP,so i honestly can't see the difference.Only if he said he was now retiring and wouldn't ride the Torun GP can i see a difference. But rules seem to be made complicated by sub sections and .....grrrr
NeilWatson
READ the previous part as well. What you have quoted above only applies AFTER the start of the new SGP season. Â The passage quoted by both myself and 'Danish Webmaster' clearly states prior to the start of the season rather than as you say Philip. However Jason's announcement is before the end of this season....
f-s-p
There's no way that the 9th should automatically get JC's place. But let's all remember that next years rulebook is yet un-written.

But let's all remember that next years rulebook is yet un-written. You mean rule 9002.4b If in the event that a Ginger headed Australian should at any time not wish to participate in the GP series then a Swedish rider called Andreas will be nominated to take his place regardless of any other rule that says otherwise

iris123
No one is doubting it.Might as well argue that a protestant will be the next Pope as argue against AJ being in the GPs next season
SCB
THE ninth placed rider will get the call. Fact. Its wrong though and I'd think whoever finishes 4th on the weekend would have the right to appeal this one. The rules are clear. AJ should not get the place. f-s-p
THE ninth placed rider will get the call. Fact. Here's the book, please show the rule. Or are we sticking with the fact that it'll be re'written.
kiwi
Think the intent of the rule is after the 15 riders for the new season have been announced, then if one of the top 8 or first three in the challenge pull out, this rule comes into play. Not prior to them announcing the 15 riders.
