Who is Adam Ellis?

He's born to English parents and has lived in France pretty much all his life, including now I believe. He's declared as the Islanders' number 8 and has appeared in about 3 or 4 meetings this season averaging around the 5 point mark. I'm not definitely sure of his age, but he was originally in the British under-19 final.

Who is Adam Ellis?

This may answer your question. It was posted after the IOW v Buxton meeting

Adam Ellis

16 year old reigning French 250cc grasstrack champion, been riding for 3 years and, (believe it or not) last nights meeting was only his 5th speedway meeting ever. Born in Marmande, south west France to English parents, father was passenger, French champion and twice european finalist with Jacques Leduc in 500cc sidecars Lived in France all his life, Eastbourne U16 championship, which he won was his first UK speedway ride and he's been doing some 2nd halves at somerset and two meetings for the young hammers. Looking to get some kind of agreement/sponsorship package to be able to ride in the UK full time next season.

So we have a lad in his 5th speedway meeting dropping a point in the NL. Proof if you're good enough then, well, you're good enough! He doesn't need the BSPA to make rules for him or fiddle things for him. One thing that is probably focusing his mind is the 13 hour one way journey to meetings in the UK from home! Rather than the, "oh well, if I fail it's only a couple of hours back to mum and dads". Sometimes I think the kids have it too easy

I don't know any rider who thinks like that! I think it has got more to do with the fact thei he has been able to go about his business quietly and at his own pace as opposed to the bells and whistles press releases trying to build him up too early and having nothing to live up to.

Probably that too.

I doubt any of the riders even realise they think like that but I'm sure Adam was sat in the pits before the meeting thinking, "if I don't score well today this huge journey is a waste of time".

Well young Adam Ellis certainly has made people take notice, for such an ineperienced rider to score so well on a Track he has only probably seen on Tv is remarkable whichever way you view it. I am sure there were a few promoters searching around for his contact details today  . Does his background in France give him an advantage over our youngsters ?, I dont know, but he has set out his stall now, and well done to him, hopefully IOW can keep him for 2013, his signing alone will give them a great start for next year, meanwhile good luck to them in the semi final play offs.

Which is how I imagine most riders feel who visit the IOW, which for any rider from midlands north can be a 15 hour journey (10 travelling) for 4 mins racing and on occasions very few points.
