Steve0
Wont work, try getting 500-1000 hard core fans into any of your suggestions, even if you space then out over a season still wont work, for me I would suggest an entrance fee of no more than £2 for all 5 to 15 year olds with parent or relative and proof of age and more to keep them interested during the heats. We could also try a lottery system, say £2 per ticket the winning ticket is drawn before heat 15 and the winner get free admission for the next home league meeting (inc P/Off) and half price for partner and children with a pre meeting pit walk and chat with team captain for the family. We already have 50/50 tickets (50% goes to winner, 50% to club) which usually nets between £150-£200 or more so getting free admission for the next home meeting is a little cheap - but good suggestion. U11s tend to spend a little time watching a few races (and getting the bug) and playing for the rest of the time. To introduce a £1 charge for all U11 is a backward step IMHO (even although some clubs have charged more than this for some time e.g. Poole) because for an average family it is an increase of £2-£3 added to the 50p parking, 50p on the programme and whatever else has been added for drinks and burgers, chips and hot dogs it is an increase of about £5 so I think this will tip the balance for those attending or not. Huge own goal I'm afraid. I was thinking about going to the "filler" next week but won't bother now! Edited March 17, 2013 by Steve0

Take the Cardiff GP(not the best of racing), Premier League footie, some STFC games, Rugby, ice hockey and 20/20 cricket. TBH on Thursday the end of the meeting couldn't come quick enough..tedious. Always had more kids for weekend meetings and school holidays. I'm sure there are a few fans that would be prepared to give up their time for free to leaflet drop businesses. I saw a quality leaflet advertising speedway in the Brunel Centre..would be ideal to leave at hotels, pubs, restaurants, companies, tourist attractions etc., Seriously thinking of whether to go next Thursday. There's at least 20 hangers-on in the pits at Swindon, move them out and you'd have plenty of room to reward the loyalty of your fee-paying customers with a pre-match pit walk. We could also try a lottery system, say £2 per ticket the winning ticket is drawn before heat 15 and the winner get free admission for the next home league meeting (inc P/Off) and half price for partner and children with a pre meeting pit walk and chat with team captain for the family. THe idea is to reward loyalty, not shake fans down for another couple of quid.
mdmc82
swindon are looking at using guests alot this year. for example if you look at just Aprils fixtures for starters: 4th swindon v Lakeside - Morris missing 5th Lakeside v Swindon - Morris / Birks missing 8th Swindon v Peterborough - full team 10th Birmingham v Swindon - full team 12th Peterborough v Swindon - Morris/Birks missing 25th Swindon v Eastbourne - Full team
BuzzCagney
I believe the main reason Swindon didn't resign Steady is because he wanted to ride PL with Sheffield, so basically only being available for away meetings, where lets be honest is his achilles heel. KL should be getting a good rider due to him being busier, so good luck to them, I'm sure once dialled in EK will do a good job. I've come to realise Simon was pretty adept at making himself look a bit of a victim. The deal at Sheffield was wrapped up incredibly quickly after Swindon 'dropped' him so quite why he felt the need to act all shocked and upset about it is a bit of a mystery. Bottom line is for 95% of last season he was pants. Of course he made that invaluable contribution when it mattered most but I think it was a good decision on his part to go to Sheffield. He'll do well there and i'm sure he'll do a decent enough job as a d/u too. Yup, it's good to see the positivity return after the season opener now that you're left to your own devices! Doesn't sound like Patchett will be having much spare cash available in 2013 to increase his asset base. Not to worry, i'm sure we'll know of somewhere where we can cherry pick discontented riders on the cheap.

g13webb
Can you name me one club that has asked for its supporters views over the winter. Kings Lynn.. Buster and the management have had three meetings with supporters through the winter months, for their views and to keep them informed of all the developments. He even had a special evening where all the riders came to meet the masses and answer questions. A good night for supporter and team bonding.......

I am sure I heard that Sheffield were considering a change of race night to accommodate Steady D/U if he was signed to ride for Swindon again this year but in the end didn't have to! Old news tho. Wouldn't surprise me if it has already been approved. On second thoughts the Panthers camp would be jumping up and down whining about it so maybe it hasn't! If it was already approved don't you think his parent club's promoters would know since they'd be asked to fill in the necessary paperwork?

If you are a much better knowledgeable position perhaps you could enlighten us what the protocol is following the March 1st ruling. Not a sarcastic response by the way. In the recently quoted piece (http://www1.skysport.../12268/8559291/) Ms Mahoney says all that we can do is wait to see if the team declaration is approved. That tells me that, as of a day or two ago, it wasn't approved as she'd be told quickly enough if it was because of the paperwork that needs to be completed (by both sides) before a rider can actually ride.

I should think once the team declarations have been approved they will appear on the BSPA web site as per the 2012 versions, out of interest issue 1 of 2012 is dated the 23rd March 2012. Two dates for the 2014 diary already: March 2 will be team announcement/declaration day and March 23 will be BSPA ratification day!
