Don't be mean. Freddie's been a decent servant to British speedway & you shouldn't begrudge him in the twilight of his career.

T.N.T.
Why is it against site rules ? Why is it on the Swindon thread ? ........ Firstly, Feddie rides in the Elite League in which Swindon take part in and are current champions and they hold the ELRC Final which was won by Freddie in 2010 ..... plus there will be former and current Robins riders in the line up that is in honour of a rider riding for the same team for ten years ...... when did that last happen ? I hope speedway goes forward as a whole! it does not matter to me if the Panthers, Robins or Poole or whoever wins as long as the sport progresses year after year.Has it though in the last 30 years since Penhall a big NO.
Crump99
Batch can go on loan if not signed before - according to the BSPA rules! really! “We are told after March 1, although it is not written in the rulebook, that any rider not in a team has to be made available for loan,” Patchett said" - who told him? "Robins will now wait until the unofficial signing deadline of March 1 when they are expected to be allowed to sign the 25-year-old on loan" - why Edited February 7, 2013 by Crump99

"Robins will now wait until the unofficial signing deadline of March 1 when they are expected to be allowed to sign the 25-year-old on loan" - why Surely this not not apply to Batch as they have already made a ruling on his availability, otherwise why would anyone ever need to buy a rider, when all they have to do is wait till Mar 1st every year. Not even BSPA regulations can be that transparent, can they ?
Steve0
It's about supply and demand. Just because someone wants to sell doesn't mean anyone is obliged to buy! Whatever the rights and wrongs of how anyone sees it, it is approaching the start of the season and no one seems interested in buying Batch. Surely it makes sense then that he is made available on loan rather than not ride - or is that too simple for some to understand? I'm sure this sorry saga will come to a conclusion soon.
BuzzCagney
I think Swindon should come to some arrangement to buy Troy. Even if its on Hire-Purchase or some-such agreement. The BSPA have ruled on it so to hang about till what appears to be an un-official cut-off date just looks a little bit devious. Peterborough have played silly-buggers, for sure, but i'd prefer it if my Club were a bit more honorable.

Well that's progress from quoting rules which don't exist. Isn't it also about accepting a BSPA ruling rather than sticking your fingers in your ears expecting to get your own way in the end by doing nothing apart from speaking to the press? Buzz has made good points and if Patchett could just shut up and both clubs could come to a financial settlement and do a joint press release to say they are happy with the outcome then perhaps that's the way to go. If not then the ruling stands - that's easy enough to understand isn't it? Edited February 8, 2013 by Crump99
BuzzCagney
In fairness both Clubs have blabbed off to the press, Crump99. You know the thing that most upsets me about all of this? Its that Swindon and Peterborough have, apparently, forgotten that, when all is said and done, its about Speedway Racing. That things have got so bad between the respective promotions that they have pulled the plug on the arranged challenge matches is extremely unfortunate. And it should never have got to that point. That's part of speedway's problem though. Speedway isn't about racing these days, it's about politics and an overcomplicated rule book. Where is it said that the challenge matches were pulled over this? The EoES is unavailable, and with a weekend event scheduled that does seem rather coincidental but not unusual at our place unfortunately. I agree that it shouldn't have got to this point. Hopefully they sort it so that it doesn't in future, the riders deserve that. Edited February 8, 2013 by Crump99

Crump99
Hopefully that will be on loan Peterborough asset and Swindon rider Troy Batchelor after March 1st. Close! Unless there is a mutual financial agreement (not involving loan) between the clubs, and assuming Batch wants to ride in the UK, it'll be Belle Vue's Troy Batchelor.
