stevebrum
Batch was illegaly appraoched, NKI wasn't apparently. That is your opinion - if it is fact - show me where this is stated! What difference does that make? Miedzinski was illegally approached apparently and Poole were still allowed a loan deal and just got fined, surely if Swindon accepted a fine then they could loan him Seems the goal post change season on season. Oh hang on, more like day by day, club by club, rider by rider. Swindon should claim Batch is only riding till May and then use the `Poole` rule. By Mark Plummer Published on Thursday 17 January 2013 13:47 Peterborough Panthers co-owner Julie Mahoney has spoken of her disappointment after the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) threw out the city club’s appeal against Niels Kristian Iversen’s loan switch to local rivals King’s Lynn. “I’ve been told we have to make up our minds over which rider we want to use at number one but I find that quite strange given I released Hans on December 21 after he had turned down two offers from Peterborough.” Mahoney stresses she has only been told of the BSPA Management Committee decisions verbally. Written confirmation had not been received late yesterday. Panthers are widely expected to sign Kenneth Bjerre to lead their new-look team into battle next season. what is the problem then..... bloody muppets Just make your minds up instead of holding other teams to ransom.
Sully
I question what constitutes an illegal approach? 1. Here are terms and a contract for next year Or 2. Would be interested in riding here next year? A vast difference, I'm sure Troy, Hans & NKI all had the second, but to me that is not an illegal it's an end of season conversation. Julie 'pants on fire' lady says "but I find that quite strange given I released Hans on December 21", in that case as far as I know Swindon as his club for the previous season have rights to first dibs on his services, but it is said Coventry were given permission to talk but Swindon refused? surely that's a rule breach? This is a mess, the BSPA are being totally inconsistent, Swindon are saying nothing and the Peterborough woman is blurting all sorts of guff it seems with little foundation! I give up, think I'll watch the paint dry! ignoring the pathetic derogatory comments regarding Julie Mahoney how is she saying things with no foundation. All she has done to date is report what she has been told by the BSPA. if Swindon hadnt done a deal with Batch and if batch had kept his mouth shut the decision most likely would have gone the other way. If you can afford him, buy him, if not find another rider you can afford.
MattK
Good news in the Adver re; the new stadium with new youth training facilities. A new stadium would attract more sponsors and fans. Local MP says "We are supportive for 2 reasons. Firstly as we will provide a sustainable and long-term future for the speedway team that, having won the league, is a real jewel of our sporting entertainment". About time, in a home that hasn't changed much in over 60 years. It doesn't actually say that though, does it? All it says is that a house-builder has been engaged "to bring forward the first phase of housing". So houses first, stadium, um, well, maybe, in the future. Doesn't really matter. We can race at the County Ground next season as Swindon Town will be in the Blue Square Premier league.

Why do you keep thinking it's good news ? i still have my doubts that the new staduim will be built with the new houses ,your Showing far to much trust and faith in people plenty can still on to stop the staduim being build . To me this is the biggest danger to the club in 60 years .

Dont talk so bloody daft, the County Ground pitch perimeter is the wrong shape for speedway(the corners are at right-angles meaning a danger for bikes entering the corner at 70 m.p.h.) YerRopes
What a total bollox this situation has become... Congratulations must go to the BSPA for their continued total uselessness... I suggest that Swindon recall Mads, Simon, Jason, Zengi etc and redeclare their team - obviously this will take much longer that PBoro have so far had to determine their No 1 rider for 2013 - how inept are they ! Perhaps then we can have an American style 'lock-out' and kill what's left of the EL stone dead. Complete amateurism...and oh for an independent body (ha bloody ha)
Young51
who's fault is it then Who do you think? Frosty the frickin' Snowman?! Never thought i'd say this as i've never been a great fan of his really, but i feel so sorry for Troy Batchelor in all of this.. 500cc
who's fault is it then The information is that Batchelors status (must be sold) is a result of his conduct. If he has been neither charged nor given the right of appeal then the BSPA's legal department has failed again. It is having a direct impact on his employment prospects. 65Sarge
People here keep saying Troy tweeted he was signing for Swindon then deleted the tweet. How many actually saw this tweet? I did, and it never mentioned Swindon nor that he had agreed anything I think it mentioned hope about sorting UK deal in next few days, I can't be 100% sure, but at least I am sure he never said he had agreed a deal with Swindon! I wasn't a big fan of Troy, but think he seems to have matured and has got the raw end of the deal this time!
Steve0
who's fault is it then Peterborough Speedway - who are supposed to look after their "assets" and not leave them hung out to dry!
YerRopes
The best way to move to Oz is to have employment there, I assume this situation is reciprocated.. Hence, Troy will either get an offer of employment from PBoro or possibly some other team Problem solved...end of...

YerRopes
It's not really the same though, is it? You're quite correct there and it would achieve little, but only one team is playing 'silly buggers' at the moment..
noggin
It's not even April 1st and BSPA come out with another Joke of a Decision, no wonder supporters are leaving in their droves.
Vincent Blachshadow
Peterborough Speedway - who are supposed to look after their "assets" and not leave them hung out to dry! I recall a few years ago Batch 'signing' for Peterborough after, shall we say, not exactly agreeable circumstances with his (then) parent club (who'd circulated his name as available to other clubs). Peterborough could use him but they had to stump up a full transfer fee. Peterborough paid up. Fast forward a couple of years. Batch was wanted by his (new) parent club but couldn't be contacted by them. He rode the season for Swindon who had no apparent problem contacting him but on loan. Now this year he's wanted by Swindon and, if certain things are to be believed, has had some sort of 'agreement' to ride for them sorted for some time. The MC have ruled this can only be after a full transfer. 'What goes around' maybe? Edited January 17, 2013 by Vincent Blackshadow
Red Robin
I am fast losing the will to live with the P.borough promotion, Hans and Batch are without doubt being denied a chance to ride where they want this year. As I said before it is nothing but SPITE, Julie Maloney wants all her own way. How can she expect Hans to agree a deal on less money than he was getting in 2003, they have no intention of using either in the team but don,t want any other team to be allowed to sign them. Their treatment is disgusting!!!As for the BSPA, they could sort it overnight!!!!
MattK
You're quite correct there and it would achieve little, but only one team is playing 'silly buggers' at the moment.. I do have some sympathy for Peterborough though. They have six of the top 20 riders in British speedway, but can only use two of them due to an arbitary rule introduced this year. On the other hand, Swindon and Kings Lynn have no heatleader assets and therefore have to go cap-in-hand to the likes of Peterborough for riders. It's not unreasonable that Peterborough expect clubs to buy the riders they want to use, rather than loan them season after season.
