Swindon 2013

Recommended Posts

are we supposed to be dancing in the streets of the town tonight about this "big exciting announcement"?

Exciting for the promoter's financial position maybe, but not really for the average spectator

is anyone really going to say "I'm off to see the excalibur robins tonight"

Nige, I understand where you're coming from, but hidden away in the press release they mention using the 5 figure cash injection to buy assets. I dare say if they'd released a statement saying "Excalibur Robins on asset buying spree for 2013" we might feel like dancing in the streets, but so would the likes of Glasgow who'd then know they can drive up the price of Nick based on our new found 'wealth'. Public Relations is a tough game and I think they've got it about spot on this time

Probably not the exciting announcement Swindon fans were expecting, but anything that brings money into the sport during these times of austerity should be celebrated. Well done Patch and Rosco! Have to agree too that the "Excalibur Robins" has something of a ring to it!

Precedent or no precedent, I just can't imagine the whiter than white messers Patchett and Rosco stooping so low, but even if the mask has slipped, after crying so many tears on the moral high ground just a few short months ago, I just can't see wonderful people of Swindon allowing such an act of treachery.

Covering all the bases then.

So with the big news this morning that Swindon have announced a new main sponsor, and haven't announced the signing of Bomber,it seems your worries that Swindon would be joining your beloved Poole in tapping up riders illegally are misplaced. ;)Still it should be some comfort to know in that regard Poole are still clearly in a league of their own. :D

We were always told that Uncle Matt had a great eye for talent, well looking at the S/Star this week,oh dear,oh dear.

Great move by the Robins to get a new major sponsor in these times of economic squeeze. It just shows what a little bit of success can bring!!

Not sure about 'The Excalibur Communications Robins' though?! Bit of a mouthful, but hey thats what team sponsorship is all about in the UK.

ps. Discounted copies of the DVD 'A Sword in the Stone' will be available with the matchday programme during the first month of the season!! :P:D

Sponsorship from a company within the local area should always be well received, particularly in these difficult times.

The inference is that we are looking to invest in new riders as we have lost heat leaders should be indicative that the Robins have targeted, 1 maybe 2 riders that we would like to acquire and see as pivotal to future success.

The obvious one may well be young Morris but it could be that Hans/Batch also enter the equation.

'away' kevlars too - innovative. The Mighty One and Gary should be congratulated, as should Excalibur, for their investment and hopefully these assets will continue to promote further success and ensure the well being of our club.

Appropriate name...Excalibur(battle/hard) Arthur's sword. Liddington Hill the famous landmark above the town was supposedly the scene of Arthurs famous British army victory over the Anglo-Saxons. Will the famous Robin be replaced by a sword, who knows ;) ?Will the purple kevlars make the riders look a bit gay(better than pink though)?

Can only be good news for the club, looking to build strong asset base for long-term success, and for the company, looking to involve local community and schools within local sport, and increase attendances at The Abbey. Exciting times ahead for Swindon Speedway. Roll on 2013. :t:
