Backless
So, that'll be a "No - it doesn't appear anywhere else" then. Notwithstanding the efforts of the Supporters' Club, what have the promotion actually done to achieve anything at all this weekend? Toys out on Tuesday, back in on Wednesday when Denham found out how much he'd lose for pulling out during the season, the only reason put forward for there being a meeting on Saturday is that it'll cost less than closing. Since then… nothing.. I'll ask again: is there any substance greater than the figment of someone's imagination behind the notion of any discount being dependent on 1,000 or more turning out on Saturday?
Derwent
There's no mention of this 'cashback' offer in the report in today's local paper.... http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=71567&st=

Backless
Fair play, eventually. Some sort of scheme might have eased the situation weeks go, but at least it's worth a try.

You are such a goon , stick to your own Berwick threads and post your tripe on there, this forum is going downhill fast !! Why are you so bothered that something should be broadcasted or advertised about Workington for this Saturday, planning on making the trip more than likely not , I really must learn how to set the IGNORE up on my profile
Brough Diamond
Be prepared for a long night. Potentially 700 people queuing up at the Speedway office or turnstile, showing proof you paid the adult admission and then getting a fiver, changing a tenner etc. is going to take a considerable time. I wish the club a long term future whatever happens.
Backless
Davidj: Just the sort of introverted, inbred attitude that leads to situations such as the current one. How do you know about "my" Berwick threads? What right have you to be reading Berwick threads? Oh, that'll be because its a Speedway Forum. It's only a few weeks ago that (thankfully) the rain wiped out a weekend where the plan was to charge £15 admission & 2.50 for a programme soley for the visit of "my" Berwick team and then the same pricing 24 hours later v Leicester. If those matches had gone ahead, Christ knows what the losses would have been. Hopefully Saturday will be a success to such an extent that the deal might be repeated and have a snowball effect, rather than the crowds of late which have dwindled. Not trying to knock the offer though.

EC Rides Again
There are a number of stockcar tracks that run weekly, indeed some, particularly in the holiday season running a couple of times a week. The key difference isn't the commitment, it's the financial outlay. In all but the really top formulas, the competitors will pay an entry fee to compete. So all the promoter has to provide is some trophies and possibly some prize money - often covered by sponsorship. Indeed the same is often true for club grasstrack meetings. Somehow I would doubt if the average speedway rider would agree to pay an entrance fee to race, and accept the odd trophy and a bit of prize money for their time and trouble. Given that, and the current economic situation is it reasonable to expect promotions to try and put on a show every week? Are 25-30 home meetings still viable? I think there are a lot of people reaching the conclusion, that less is probably more. Nail on the head. I love my fix of speedway, but I don't go every week as I have a life, and I'm sure I'm not alone. For the promoters who run speedway at venues that they don't own the future looks bleak. ruffdiamond
If there is 700 people queuing up I will be a happy man, but thanks for the support is 700 enough to get your fiver back ? Probably best to have presented the readmission ticket at the next meeting, and getting a fiver off. Much easier and less frustration and admin. Not trying to knock the offer though. sounds the easiest option, but, then people have to pay £25 for 2 matches = £12.50 per match cash back via redemption,,, pay £15 one week, then £10 the next, then £10 the next, and so on,,,, it might keep fans coming back, but they'll never get the original fiver back,,, Best of luck whatever happens :-)
